Default Leaking Fuel Line thoughts?

Hi all,

'89 911 with 120k miles. Purchased last Aug from a friend in California. Been driving and enjoying. Starting last fall, smelled some traces of raw fuel, but couldn't find the culprit.

This spring, started it up and saw fuel squirting from the black line in the pics. It seems to be coming from the intersection of the copper colored "nuts" at the end of the black fuel line. Any thoughts on best way to fix? I can barely get my hands back there. (It's back left as I'm peering into the engine compartment).

Thanks!

If I were you, I'd drop the motor to replace it and the high pressure lines under the manifold. Nothing to take lightly.

took awhile to find my fuel leak, looks at same place. Its a bitch to replace but can be done with manifold on, engine in. cost is several hundred $$$, depends on pelican parts or dealer item.

hmm....yeah I concurr with the others.

You might get the leak to stop by tightening the fittings, but it's where it's not leaking that is the problem.

The old rubber lines can suddenly burst, and many 911s have gone up in flames as a result.

I pulled my intake to replace. could not resist the opportunity to bling.

sent the lines to ZIMs for a rebuild.

http://www.allzim.com/index.html

great job, quick turn around, and much cheaper than new lines from Porsche. there is a little trick to replacing the short, U shaped hose on the rear rail. the factory part is molded. they can explain.

good luck and glad you found it before I burned you.

Thanks to all who responded. Love the bling, Tracker. Someday. . . . someday. . . . .
Am taking the car to the Porsche Exchange in Highland Park this week.
Will update when I have more info.

So, spoke to the shop.
Quoted approx $1,100.
It is $200 for the parts, 900 for the labor.
Sound reasonable?
Anything else should address while manifold is off?

Is that for stainless steel braided lines? If that's the cost I'd do it in a heartbeat!

I don't think so. It is to replace the OEM lines.

Tracker: can you give me a bit more detail on what you pulled to have re-done?
When I look up the part number they game me, it is just a tiny hose. Seems like they aren't touching much. And the part is not the one that I have in the pics above.

They need to price replacement of the 2 high pressure lines up top too. Those are expensive, but Zims has remans available.
