Would anyone consider this a deal. 1990 porsche C2. Needs some interior work and has 140k but is selling from a guy up in newport who is desperate for some money. $12000 has clean title. Is a coupe in a midnight blue. Looks like exterior is in good shape would post pic but i cant figure out how to.

You could probably get more if you just sold it to a dealer. Something's amiss.
Check it over, quickly. If it's the real deal it should be gone when you get there. Same rules apply as the others.

It is at a small porsche dealer and just went on consignment. The dealer is overstocked and does not want to take it on. I have been speaking to the owner of the store via email and he nows i have been looking for a car that is why he told me about it. Guy needs money withing a couple days. that is why it is so cheap. Car has been inspected buy pristines mechanics and is in good shape

16jake, I would get an independent PPI from another wrench. Not that you cannot trust these guys, it is just a good idea to get an unbiased second opinion.
Heck, if he needs the cash, offer $11K cash if everything checks out. Could be a good opportunity.

Remember a couple of old saying - If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is....You get what you pay for...(I speak from experience)!
Don't trust them. Get an independent PPI done!

Didn't the 1990 have cylinder and clutch issues? If so, and if the work hasn't been done, you'll have thousands of dollars in repairs ahead of you. Jet911's advice is good: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don't get swept up in the "bling, bling." Have an independent mechanic (not one suggested by the seller) do a thorough pre-purchase inspection. It'll be the best $200 you ever spent.

However, I and many others who are informed on this issue disagree that if cylinder head work hasn't been done, it *will* need to be done. The reality is that it *may* have to be done. It is a problem in only a small percentage of 964s. BTW, if the car has 140k on it, the flywheel (clutch issue) has already been replaced.
Good luck.

Hopefully it has been replaced by a LUK.
Keep in mind that an excellent '90 C2 with low miles would probably sell for mid $20,000's, maybe more depending on your area. An average '90 with 60,000 - 100,000 miles with some minor issues might sell for $20,000 or a bit less. So, for $12,000, there must be some issues with this car, or this guy wants to unload this thing very quick.
I agree with all others. Get a PPI done by someone YOU trust.
Good Luck,
Jay

Nice 964's don't have these problems.
