Hoffman 912:

Just to help you get out of the Porsche "stone age" a bit:

1. The 944 was REAR wheel drive. Porsche has never manufactured a front wheel drive vehicle.

2. The "SC" in 911SC does not stand for "super charged." They were normally aspirated 3.0 liter sixes. "SC" is believed to stand for "Super Carrera."

Just a bit of wisdom to help you sound a bit more knowledgeable around the non-356 or 912 Porschefiles!

thank you for chiming in for me! hey i admitted i wasnt sure. but still, the sentament of the message was there

Jake,

now you see what i meant, (ok i was unsure about some info), but now youve gotten over the hump!
you now know what you like and what you dont like.
now they key is to read the book Robert sent you, and study the 911/912 sections. read each page and look over each detail. next you have to be patient, and dont give in until you know you found your car. angels dont sing or anyything like that.. its just a feeling.. YOU KNOW! no matter what though, the book robert sent you will just be a guide of what to look for, still make sure anyways that you get a ppi! nothing will be a substitute for that.

Good Luck on finding a good reliable 911 with so little money. I have read a few of your posts and you seem to want a perfect car for so little money. Any car you purchased that is listed under current market value will probably need a little work and money. From the sounds of the 944 Turbo you described, it seemed like the rotors were just warped. For $4900 on a car the normally sells for around 8k+ in good operating condition it seems like a good buy to me. Could probably work him for another $400-500 off if he needs to unload quick..

yes probably could talk the guy down but i think id rather wait and get a nice 911 and yes i do believe i could find a nice sc or 911t/912 for about 9000. And on the topic of the 944 i dont think i want to depend on carfax for the history of the car.
