I paid (based on this thread) over top dollar for my 88' Targa from a lister' in May. I'm a huge black on tan fan so that had me at hello. Then came the receipts with a clean PPI and it was all over. Receipts, receipts, receipts. I have every receipt since day one. Including the first oil change at 780 miles to the $8K the last owner spent going through everything. I can tell you every previous owners name and address since the car was delivered by Beverly Hills Porsche. Having the original window sticker is pretty cool also.
To me price is too subjective to rationalize based on links and pictures.

I've been looking myself. While this car is currently over priced for sure what does the forum think of it and realistic price. There are some changes for sure to be had. Duck tail, wheels (not in love with matching color but nothing that has to be done today. Does anybody know the car. It is supposedly a trade in from a collector to Porsche of the Main Line.

Has anyone here ever seen a pic that made a car look better than it was? My guess is yes, but if that one is what it appears to be, and if you can afford "the best", it's not overpriced by much. In collector cars, which these may be/are becoming, there is a hugh difference between "very good" and "excellent/perfect".

It was one owner, 38k miles. The PO shipped the car from the east coast to Andial in CA, where 3.4 jugs and pistons were installed as well as an upgraded chip, MAF, and exhaust. Andial also redid the top and it's rubber seals, and repainted the Fuchs. I've had the car four years. I've owned six other Porsches, (2 356s, a 930, a ROW 85 Carrera, 996, and a Cayman S), but this is the only one I have kept. I do not care for the shape of the rear window relative to a hardtop, but this car has so many other good attributes that I can live with it. I do not like Porsche cabs at all - just a personal preference.
Yes it's a little noisy at interstate speeds, but that's about the only drawback, and it's not all that bad. I rarely remove the top (I prefer AC), but when I do, I never fold it, and I leave it at home in the garage. I haven't done any maintenance or adjusting of the top as it has not required any.

I love Porsche's Targa system (from model 993 and onward). Best compromise in the sports car world IMHO. I would even claim that the 4S-models are the most complete sportscars today.
