Where to mount Sirius satellite antanae
Looking at putting Sirius satellite in my 85 911 Targa but can not find a reasonable place to mount the antanae. Supposed to be mounted 3 inches or more from the edge and mounted on metal surface. With the tail and targa top, the only surface is the front trunk lid and does not look feasible. Any suggestions? Anyone mount them inside the car on the front dash or rear deck? Any real negative effect on reception?

I would try placing it on the interior rear shelf as close to the glass as possible. I would test it out and check reception before going through the trouble to hide the wires.

I struggled with the same as I wanted to keep it very clean. I had my shop fab a bracket to mount under the rear grill, note I pulled condenser as I do not run AC. The image below has the key pointing at it and it works great.

Just mount it on the leading edge of your windshield frame, up top and center. Run the wires concealed through the weatherstripping. While I've only done this long term on my coupes, I did have it mounted like that on a '94 cab I briefly owned, plus my smart cabrio for a couple of years. (I've either not heard of, or noticed, the 3" recommendation.)

I like the rear grill mount idea but have been told that it will negatively affect reception as ir is not on large metal panel and it will be interfered with by the roofline. Not sure how accurate that is, but also do not feel like going through the cost and headache if it is not going to work.... May see if I can borrow one to try out. Thanks for the replies.

I mounted mine as mentioned before on the rear shelf centered on the shelf. The reception is perfect and you do not notice it unless you are looking for it. The wires were easy to run under the carpet and along the side took about 15 mins.
