Thanks to all my "familiars" for posting here, and I hope any passer-bys who view this thread can witness the bond that a "common thread" can produce. Frankly I'm amazed that someone would do something nice for me.
Keep in mind that what Doyle did for me, he offered to anyone else who would accept (in the OT forum) and he would gladly do for anyone of you as well. What a guy, what a lesson we all can take away from this. I won't forget. And Ed(ivangene), I still value my fan belt tool as a gift, but I will be passing it along to Doyle.
GothingNC...look at your post-count above^^^^. Good timing for sure.
My warmest regards to all, and especially Doyle(shall I say...my coolest regards to Doyle this afternoon)
Scott

edit: Gothings count is 2112 at this time.

Scott says "coolest", as he knows I'm attempting my first AC charge (R12) today with help from an old school mechanic....I had provided him my Bentley and some copy/paste posts from here and there....he said he could not believe how much frikin' AC hose is in that car!!!!!!!! Let's see what the vents produce, when done.

Good AC sources here in this group....Best to my fellow "protons"....

Gotta love Dave...He said that when they snap the pic, he wanted to strike a "swagger" pose. A bit John Wayne. John grinned like a monkey the whole time. These two were very nice people. When meeting strangers the first time, one can be cautious. These two were extremely outgoing, professional, mature, and engaging. This whole experience has been very gratifying.
Doyle, I feel certain your A/C will be fine; it's an easy process to do correctly. Call me with any concerns or reflections.

^^^that is nice. Finding that stuff is hard at any price. Many people just don't mess with it anymore. Differnt places have different attutudes, but I would think that the people's republic of california would have your head on a stake for holding that stuff.
IIRC, a typical top-off on a Carrera may take about 1.5 cans..if that. I told Doyle that 2 cans max. His guy doing it is going to evacuate, vacuum, refill with new R12...using an R12 recovery system. I think this is the right way to do it, but don't remember how many lbs/oz it should take to refill and thus how much $$ over what was already in there. I guess we'll find out.

THAT IS AWESOME.

I'm going to see Rush on 6/26 for the 20th (probably) time.

The RL bond is as strong as the Rush-fan bond.

Very cool to see them overlap.

I don't know if anyone has noted this, but Neil Peart has owned a few (not sure how many) 911s.

I've not read of Neil owning any Porsche (not to say that he hasn't in his day) but would love to see it...... ....certainly a BMW guy (just from reading his books), both 4 wheel and 2 wheel! I do know that Geddy had a 911 way the frick back and Alex had bought a Jag,..Neil went with a Benz,..this is from one of the many published books on them....an old story, if anything.

I wish someone would ask them about their cars, over the years....would be a cool question...

HarryL: THAT "overlap" is WAY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!! nice pic, too!!!

BEST!

Thanks, rusnak,..very gracious of you to offer. We are, however good to go,...with the best kind of R12: FREE R12 ! (Karma story...)

My car's blowing cool (49-50 degrees @ the center vent) this evening (weird,..and comfortable, for me) but will have to tell you all the tale a bit later...Bird,..your input was quite valuable today (as was many other posters' data-PROS)...You are right,....somewhat simple. However I won't imply complete simplicity just because I did it for the first frikin time in my life !!!!!!!!!! All for zero dollars....

Anywaze,....forget "cool BS story" for now,..and we'll get back to the "coolness" (point) of Scott's thread,...

,..and I can tell you,..it wasn't "what" was done but "why" it was done,..and, of course, "that" it was done!!!!!!! And "done", it was.

BEST!

Doyle
