Default Is this '87 worth it?

I currently have a 2002 996 Cab, but I have always been fascinated by the good looks of the early 911 with the whale tale.

I have found a 65k mile Targa (another option I always liked). Appears to be a two owner car, G50 transmission, ac, Oyster interior and black exterior. The car shows nicely and has been routinely serviced.

The only drawback for me is it is black! I really want Guards Red, but when looking at older cars I realize you can't be real picky.

This car can be bought for $14k. Any thoughts on the price?

This is the description for his ad:

1987 Porsche 911 V6
Rare G50 Transmission.
64,*** miles.
Engine NEVER pulled!
2nd Owner
Tuned on time every time
A/C - HEAT
Oyster Interior
Always Garaged
New Tires
No Accidents-NO DENTS!
Close to MINT CONDITION!
Have all the original catalogs in great condition

Does look like a great deal or just another deal?

Thanks,

Tony

Pictures would tell a better tale. The ad is clearly written by a non-enthusiast. No one would call the 911 engine a V6, or brag about never pulling an engine. That in itself does not mean that the ad is misleading, it just makes me nervous. If the car was truly in excellent condition I would think 14k would be a decent price. Heck, 3 years ago the G50 cars were ALL over 20k. As always a PPI is a must.

i would be real interested in seeing his V-6 might be the only one Porsche produced in that car .. would make the engine even more rare than his G-50

but 14K if it is as advertised would be a great deal inmy mind allmost sounds like a scam ..

No scam, but I didn't notice the "V6" either. The car was given to him by his mother after his father passed away. It seems his father had several Porsche's and he wound up with the 911.

If the PPI checks out, seems like a good deal.

Tony 14K for a g-50 911 seams outstanding . I wouldn't be wasting any time in getting a PPI .

Nice looking vehicle. The G-50 for 87-89 models isn't rare. It's the only one in those years.

Maybe not... But I've been doing it since I moved to Kansas in May, and I can assure you there's a lot less nagging involved
