Default What's Your Current List of "Little Things" To Do?

I'm not talking about the fuel pump that strands you by the highway...I'm talking about the turn signal that doesn't work, or the mysteriously bouncing oil pressure gauge. These cars are works in progress and we all know they'll never be truly finished..

Here's my current list.

1) Mystery squeak in dash board. It's not the ashtray...what can it be?

2) A flap of carpeting has ripped and is hanging by the clutch pedal. I've secured it with duct tape (my cure-all) but part of it has come loose. I may simply cut the offending flap.

3) Small tear in my rear window. I'm buying a new convertible top this winter so that'll be settled.

4) Rattle in my driver's side door. Something's loose in there and I hear it when I go over rough roads. Window goes up and down just fine, but there's a little "hitch" I can feel...something's out of whack.

5) The transmission was rebuilt about 25K miles ago before I got the car. At speed, when I take my foot off the gas, there's a subtle whine. Clutch and tranny are just fine but there may be more work in the not-too-distant future.

6) Squeak from front of car, especially noticeable in cold weather. I'm changing all the suspension bushings and putting in Turbo tie rods, so I'm expecting this will be taken care of.

7) OP installed a new CD player with a big honking amp taking up space in the trunk. I never listen to music in this car, so it's all going out. I bought an original Blaupunkt Monterey. I love the look of those old units.

8) Rattling noise behind steering wheel. A plastic bushing's in pieces, no doubt. Wheel is still nice and tight, though. Replace with Mitch Leland's upgrade.

9) I installed stone guards on the rear fenders and didn't do the greatest job in the world. If you look closely, they're a bit off. Not sure what to do about them. They look OK, but I don't want to risk damaging the paint to adjust them.

I think that's it....for now. Otherwise, the car's running great and always leaves me wanting more when I pull into the driveway.

What's on your list?

I've included two pictures... because we like pictures!

Helios,

Here's my list:

1. Replace the door stays on both doors.

2. Passenger door switch unlocks but does not lock with key in driver's side.

3. Replace badge. It's holding on by one stud.

4. Add a headlight switch relay kit.

5. Replace the four speakers and maybe the head unit. They have been replaced already, but the speakers suck and I don’t really like the Sony head unit.

6. Passenger seat switch does not move seat backwards.

7. Shifter bushings.

8. DME performance chip.

9. Pre-muffler and sport muffler. (OK, maybe that's not a "little thing" but it's still on my To Do list.

That’s all I can think of right now.
I’ll edit if I think of more later.

1. Replace broken front valence bracket
2. Driver side door stay
3. New floor mats
4. Replace tubing for fuel venting tank

Question: Regarding Carrera3.2's #2, does anyone know the option code for power locks?

Oil change, valve adjust, check air fuel ratio, possibly new O2 sensor, change cap and rotor, install cat.
I also need to adjust the window frame and door after insalling new seals.

Beautiful shot Ray. Here's my list:

1. Heater blower noisy at a certain speed, has not bothered me to the extent
that I need it replaced right away.
2. Anti-sway bars need larger front bushings. Mechanic told me that I can have
it replaced at my convenience during my next trip to Seattle which has not
happened for over three months.
3. The very minimal oil drips that started ever since the change in engine oil
from a Castrol GTX 20W/50 to a Shell Rotella T 15W/40. One of these days
will have to see if I can go over to Ed's (ivangene) place to change over to
Brad Penn and see if this stops. My mechanic loves the lower viscosity for
some reason and that's why he did what he did.
4. Occasional grinding with the reverse gear when trying to get car out of the
garage first thing in the morning and need to double clutch on very rare
occasions when going from 2nd to 1st gear during a rolling stop. Suspect
some wear of the synchros as my car has had no work done on the
original transmission. I am very dilligent when it comes to gear shifts, I think
I am fine for now and the near (and hopefully distant) future.
5. Clock does not work.

Here my '86 coupe saying hi and wishing the very best for years to come for his softer White Gold Metallic sibling on the other side of the country.

1) Fix the lo-hi beam switch and install headlight relay kit
2) Adjust drivers side window height
3) Replace passenger window switch
4) Replace two targa pin covers
5) Drive faster around corners, after 6,000 miles the rear tires still have too much tread remaining

Let's see:

I had one little thing to do, a small oil leak from the cam tower to the #3 head. OK, I fixed that during the period from Mar-May. Cost was a little more than I expected, but it is done.

Now, I've got to get smog before 10/10. Working on it, and it may cost me a couple of weekend days....

Then, I've got to mount my new rear tires, my headlight relay to install, and to hook up heat.

Did I post total nudes yet?
