Someone buy the damn thing already.
It's an Air Fuel Meter, which is also called the "barn door" on the 3.2 911. These things do not last forever, and eventually they all need replacement, which is why I bought a spare.

when AFM failures are eventually diagnosed, sometimes people resort to a temporary fix which involves bending the contact arm to change the contact track. This is not as good as buying a new one or an almost new used one. I paid probably around 100 for an almost new, used one from Einmalig a few years ago.

Rusnack, the proper way to fix an AFM is to adjust the arm by loosening the set screw on the teeth and moving it to loosen or tighten the arm. On a Carrera or Carrera 2 this may be tricky since there is lettle room to adjust it unless you use a very short screwdriver. It was very easy on my old 912E, because there was plenty of room and I could see what I was doing. I guess you could bend the arm, but it will then always be bent.
