Default Am I a bad person?

I'm currently obsessed with the job of fixing up the bumper on my car. I've been on this project for about 3 weeks and been having a ton of fun doing it. It's actually the first time I've deeply wrenched on my 911 (there was never a need before).

I'm being **** about it. At 36,000 miles and 22 years of age the car is 99.9% original and in really, really good shape. This project is really about setting it up to remain near perfect for another 20 years.

For example here's the before & after pics of my right fender well. The cosmoline was everywhere. And you can't really tell from this shot but the foam seal around the oil cooler was shot and completely deteriorating.

After:

Any-hoo, I have about 4 hours worth of work remaining. I've been HOPING that I'd somehow finagle things with the family tonight so I could have it done before tomorrow. But my wife & I haven't had a date in a while and the RIGHT THING for me to do on a Saturday night is take her out.

She just called me and said

"Do you want to work on your car tonight?"

Knowing, from experience, this type of question is a lot like "Do these pants make me look fat?" I said "Why are you asking?"

"Well, I know you are obsessed about getting the car done and some girlfriends just asked me to go out with them tonight. Is that OK?"

This just rocks. I mean how did _I_ come out of this looking like the GOOD GUY?!?!

Don't ask. Just do.

A few other items:

1. Garage looks great.

2. Car looks great.

3. Can you describe the process that took you from the first pic to the second?

Now thats taking detailing to the next level. Now how about waxing those brake calipers to compliment that OCD levels of perfection. Nice garage BTW.

Damn that's clean. I would eat off of that fender.... in fact I'd eat off of your garage floor....

I like how the jack stand and shop towel match the cabinets.

No detail too small.

VERY NICE!! I had my garage that clean once, but found that it took too much effort and though not messy, it could use a good floor cleaning. The 911 looks fantastic but I find keeping it this clean will prevent you from driving it. Thats the problem with a garage queen, ask me how I know.

Fantastic looking car, and it just happens to be the best colour too.
What coating is on your floor?
I was considering a nice coating like that for my garage floor, but was nervous about it chipping when using jack stands.
I see you have your stands in direct contact with your floor. No issues with that?

cheers

THANKS for noticing! You have no idea how hard it was to find matching towels like that!
