Default New Owner - intro w/ pic

Hello all, new to this sub forum. Hope its as fun as the one I come from.

Today was a bitter sweet day, sold my 996 and bought this 86' C2 coupe. Sorry for the pic, I shot it as I pulled her into the garage for the first time. Put about 200 miles on it today to get my feet wet (OH no water, sorry bad joke) It was love at first drive. I miss my 996 it was a fantastic car with 116k on the clock, the new one has 162k, clean history, full service record back to 1990 from my indy - I am sure to find things I want to do, but for now I thing reading up on it will take me some time.

cheers and hope to get to know you guys and the car as time goes on...

(my son was checking out the wax job, he knows he gets to do some work because he could feel it - good boy)

planned from day one, I wanted an older P-Car but felt the 996 was a good entry car into the family - turns out its a fantastic car and I had almost 20 days at the track (autocross style) to sort her out. LOTS of mods to it and really was a tough car to sell..... but the timing was right for the switch, I will work on a better set of pics (supposed to rain for the next couple days so....)

You will definetly like the feel and surely the build quality better. Nothing like the old aircooled cars...and did I mention the sound

Very Nice, Ed! It's good you posted pics right away, otherwise we'd have to get Tim over here for a few minutes.

Nice car! I love the old school headlight trim rings. Most everyone upgrades them to the H4 halogens. I kept my Carrera old school.

I think you will find this 911 more nimble than you 996. It looks like you have 6 inch wide front rims and 7 inch on the back. You can fit 7s in the front and 8 or 9s in the back. That will really up the grip level. You might just have to roll the inner front fender lip up a bit at the top of the wheel arch.

Very nice Carrera - that is an unusual, but great interior color (unusual for that era of Carrera that is... not unlike a modern Porsche's stone grey).

It will be interesting to hear your comparisons between the two cars after you have more time in the new (old) one!

Ed, that interior color is really cool, I don't think I have even seen one like it... for real
