Default The things sellers say!

During my search for the perfect SC, I've started collecting phrases that sellers use to ensure a/ that they won't sell their car b/ that buyers know they've got an attitude c/ that buyers know they've got an inflated sense of their car's worth and their own self-worth d/ and more, like that. Everything comes to you direct from Craigslist, the Pelican board, or similar. Enjoy! Feel free to add to the collection!!! And no low ballers please!!!!!

Just curious, have you sold a Porsche?

I have sold a few and, for the most part, inquiries are genuine. However, there are many dreamers out there who will waste your time in order to talk about the car with no interest in buying.

I typically sell private through word of mouth or even eBay (used for advert.). The response has been generally OK.

However, I recently tried to sell a motorcycle helmet through Craigslist and got five calls....... Every last one of them tried to lowball me.

I bought my '89 Targa through C-list and got lucky that the seller was an honest straight-up guy. I didn't lowball him and he didn't waste my time. The transaction was smooth and the car was as described. And no, he didn't have any "lowballers" clause in his advert.

Good luck with your search.

No, it just struck me as funny that so many ads say the same thing. And as somebody who has done a lot of selling -- albiet, never of a Porsche, never have even owned one, to be perfectly frank -- but I've sold a few things here and there and I've always concentrated my efforts on the selling and on the product itself, pros and cons, and left out anything of an extraneous nature that could turn a potential buyer off.
Seems to me it'd just be better to ignore the low ballers than to advertise how much you hate low ballers and risk losing a sale just for the satisfaction of telling 'em how you feel.
Mainly, though, I just think some of the ways people express themselves is pretty funny. All this is more for a laugh than anything else. I hope you don't take my commentary too seriously!

Some people just need to hear "no, get lost" before they pull the trigger. Here in central Calif. we have some ethnic groups that are known to uhm...chisel at the price before they take you seriously. It's like a Middle Eastern bazzare every time they go to buy a loaf of bread at the grocery market.

Great Investment

Just needs a little TLC

Was my wife's daily driver till I bought her a Jeep. Has been parked since

This is a rare opportunity to own the 1974 Porsche of basketball legend Pistol Pete Maravich

no issues, ready to go

CAR RUNS AND HAS BEEN A DAILY DRIVER SO IT IS RELIABLE

The car is not a daily driver, only taken out on great looking days.

This car is solid and a turns heads where ever it goes!

Car is always garaged and has never seen rain

the previous owner told me that the car ran vary well and fast!! it sat for his daughter that never gained interest in it so he sold it

Enjoy the Fun and Freedom of a Porsche at an affordable price

Or, how about the recently ended auction on ebay for an 83 SC with 17k miles that did not meet reserve with 60 bids at $33,000 dollars! That guys is nuts for not selling. Anyone want to give me $33k for my 83SC? Anyone? OK, it does have 60k miles so I will make a deal for $30k.
