I have 1986 Targa. I get about 350 miles out of a full tank of gas (mostly city driving). Normal?

ON the track about 100 miles. On a long long downhill, 900 miles. Regular driving 350 sounds right.

Your tank holds 22.5 gallons (85 liters including 8 liters of "reserve" fuel). Calculate your mileage over five consecutive tankfuls, average them, and...
As Bob posted, everyone gets different mileage. If you live in L.A. and spend 90% of your driving idling, or if you live in Montana and drive everywhere in 5th gear at 80 mph, your results will be drastically different.

I got close to 30 mpg coming back from chicago in my then stock 1987 - around 27-28 average.
Around town - still got in the low to mid 20"s Now with the 3.4 I get 17-19 on most days - on the track I got 8.8 mpg - but I was really getting on it

The health of your O2 sensor, valve adjustment, etc will affect gas mileage. I would rather check gas mileage on a long road trip with cruise control. I think 25 mpg-ish is normal for highway use. The magazine article thread has reported and actual gas mileage in it, if any one wants to look for it.
I should add that the best I got was 30-32 mpg on a round trip to the central coast, which included two days of driving around San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.

I've driven from Las Vegas to Sacramento on one tank of gas. That's almost 600 miles. That's with a Carerra bodied Targa and a well tuned 3.2, and speeds below 65MPH, but still over several mountains. I figure 30 mpg or there abouts. I only did it once, as the 65mph got really annoying after several hours.
Edit; Commuting to work and back, I usually get about 400 miles before the "feed-me" light comes on.

With my new chip, I was down to a new low of about 8.5 mpg at a recent trackday.
I'm 17-18 in general, 15 mpg on a spirited run up Palomar Mountain and the back country.
