All,
I'm looking at an 88 Targa with 54K original miles, Excellent interior and original paint. Provided it passes a thorough PPI what do you all think it might be worth? This is a dealer sale and not a private party.
Thanks in advance,
Lawrence

I just purchased a very clean '88 Targa with 117K for $15,250.00. I am very pleased with the car although it needed about $2,500.00 to make it mechanically close to perfect. I think I bought it right; not a steal, but I don't think I overpaid either.

The info below looks similiar to car listed as sold on AIC's site
1988 911 Carrera Targa, Dark Blue/Linen leather, 53k. miles!
We've said it before,... these '87 to '89 cars were considered the best that Porsche ever built, and this one is an exceptionally high quality example! Special ordered in Dark Blue (I know it looks black in most pictures) with linen leather interior, and marine blue trim. Factory Options include: Bilstein Sport Shocks, Blaupunkt Reno Stereo (since upgraded to a CD), cruise control, and Fuchs alloy wheels in 16" with black centers, alarm, folding targa top, coordinated interior accent trim in dark blue. Complete with Certificate of Authenticity, this exquisite Targa has had a few tasteful upgrades aside from it's Alpine stereo,...a stainless steel dual outlet muffler has been tuned to the car with a Performance chip and air filter, and bolt in strut brace up front. Freshly serviced at 50k., with a valve adjustment, new tensioner lines, brake fluid flush, fresh pads, and alignment, we also did an oil change and an air conditioning conversion and charge to R134a just last winter. It's truly a spectacular original example that has been well serviced and cared for by it's owners.
Hard to find this nice,...it'll make you proud to be it's new owner!

What are they asking? I would think that a very clean low mile example like that would be more of a $20-24k car , particularly if its coming from a dealer. Looks very nice so just make sure to get a very thorough PPI. Keep us posted.

If you are getting to the 30k range for the G50 cars and I am a die hard fan. One would want to take a look at the 993 cars with better power and A/c. These are the last of the air cooled engines and are a remarkable car. Just a thought worth looking into. At the very least drive the 993 to check it out. Good luck on the search....

My guess would be close to $25K based on the low mileage. The color is great, though the usual suspects - Guards Red, Black, etc. - tend to sell at a premium.
I have heard good things about AIC. I occassionally check out their inventory as they tend to have nice 3.2 Carreras amd 964s...
Good luck!
My $0.02,

I spoke to the guy with the red 89. Sounds quite nice but it slid into the back of a Tahoe last year. He was open and honest about it and sent me a whole bunch of photos of the damage and subsequent body work. I need at least an 88 as that was first year they had shoulder restraints in the back seats.
