Default Should I pull my A/C?

I have air conditioning in my '88 911 cabriolet. It hasn't worked in 10 years and I haven't missed it. I read somewhere that all the parts weigh up to 70 lbs. I'm thinking of pulling it all but am worried about affecting the car's resale. The car is 99% original. Can I pull the A/C easily with the thought of re-installing at a later date?

Well you can really do whatever you want but it depends on your definition of resale. Will you get more for it installed and not working at all ? I would think it makes no difference if it doesn't work.

But that said you can always detach the compressor as that is where the bulk of the weight is stick it on a shelf. Then just seal off the lines and push them out of the way . reinstalling it before sale. it wil make the car easier to work on for DIY and a little bit lighter for the track. If oyu don't track the car or DIY i see little advantage on stripping it out if that is all you are going to remove.

personally i don't worry to much about resale anyway on +20 year old cars, but everyone is different.

+ What Clive said. That's what I did and I am pretty sure that's what the PO did. I went the extra step of removing the condenser, I think it might have helped air flow and cooling in the engine. Not sure though.

All the A/C components are removed on my Targa except for the blower in the smugglers box.

My plan is if I want AC I will use the comlete kit from Rennaire - new barrier hoses, compressor , condensor etc...

Most of the original hoses leak quite a bit anyway.

I could never live without AC, and I have done quite a bit to improve mine. I would put the value of good AC at several thousand, as reference info only.

I pulled my A/C with no regrets. If I need air I just pull the top off.

i probably would not have bought mine, if all of the a/c was not intact. It did not work, but with a little work it is pumping out cold air again!

I have a love/hate relationship with my AC. I love it when I don't use it.

At least it's easy to work on.
