Default Need help to ID a 911 I found in the woods

I found this one abandoned and am going to try and find the owner to see if it's for sale. It looks like it's from the late 1980's except the mirrors and front spoiler don't match any pics I find in a web search. I'm from the dark side (928) so I don't know the 911's very well.

Well the "found in the woods" part is a bit over exaggerated. It sort of backed up to the woods beside an empty house that is out in the middle of the woods I assume both are owned by the same person. The house never was on a street, just a dirt road leading into the woods in a place that used to be far out of town but development has grown into the area and the property seems to now be surrounded and yet cut off all in the same way.

I was on a roof setting an A/C unit on a restaurant when I spotted it so off through the woods I went.

It is a turbo, I looked up under it and see at least one of them. tires are rotten, leaves filling the engine/intercooler vent on top and a green algae growing on the paint and glass but over all the body seems in good shape, interior worn but usable. the sun and the wet surroundings will destroy this thing soon though if someone doesn't come to the rescue.

I probably won't get it because these sort of things never happen for me either but at least I have a shot at it! Where would I find the VIN number is it somewhere readable from the outside of the car? The car is locked with no license plate, hopefully not a stolen car....

I'd keep the drug sniffing dogs away.

There should be a VIN plate viewable from the outside on the driver's side a-pillar. It does look like a Euro car, so it might not have one. If it doesn't you have to get into the trunk.

i would certainly call the police first . They should be able to tell you if it is stolen, and if it isn't they would be a great way of contacting the owner.

Looks like an early turbo (maybe 78 -80) - ROW (small rear bumpers) with some pricey upgrades. The speedline wheels if they are real are worth a pretty penny. The aero mirrors are nice - the front valence is more of a personal preference. worth a knock on the door (I would anyway)

Aggravation, how cool would it be if you could somehow keep / acquire this particular car?? It would make for a great story!

Hey, I am traveling and is currently in africa. I let a cute blond next door borrow my car before I left and didn't know this is how she treats it. Dare you touch my car. I do have cameras setup near my house. I'll be back and get all the finger prints. j/k
Nice car though.

Don't call the cops. Run a carfax on it. You can get an idea on how long its been there and where is was last registered. Find out who owns the property tell him there is a junk car on it and you'll haul it away for fifty bucks before he gets a citation from the town. What ever you do don't call the police. They'll just have it impounded.
