Default HELP What is it worth? 930 Turbo 1979

Guys, I am helping a friend sell a 1979 Factory Turbo, one owner, bone stock and it has 9500 original miles. I dont know what to price this vehicle with such low miles... I have seen cars with 80K miles going for $40-50k.....
any thoughts here..

Thanks,

D

If the car is in perfect and I mean perfect, then I would consider consigning to a car auction. Any little scratch, rub, or wear is a flaw that counts. They are probably going to get you the highest price. You are certainly allowed to ask what ever you want for the car and it is only worth it if someone is willing to pay it. You can also put it on ebay with an unreachable reserve and this will give you an idea of the value. Unless there is someone with real insight into the market I think you are just going to be getting guesses. Hemmings Motor News has appraisers listed in it and they would be a good source. Sometimes they are off also.

Why is he selling?

Sloan Cars has always been the go to dealer for low mileage Porsches.

I haven't seen 80k 930s sell for that much. Heck, they even have a hard time selling in the high 20s.

Is the 79 a US or RoW model? I sold my 52k 79 930 for $31k last October and it was pristine and #1176 of the last 1200 made for the US.

You haven't posted enough information to value car. I would say market for realy nice 930's are in the $25-35 range right now. If you friends car is eveything it should be, all records, correctly maintained etc it world be worth a decent chuck of change. It all come down to locating a buyer that wants that particular car to collect.

A podiatrist friend of mine was the original owner of what was a (I think) '76 930. He was hit in the mid-'90's and totalled the car. His insurance company wrote him a check for $80,000 for just the car. After being a daily driver for 20 years, it wasn't a bad return on investment.

I would never sell that car in todays market. If it is what you say it is. In todays market it is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it. From looking at prices of cars today I would say the market is off as much as 40%. If it were my car, I would sit on it untill the market bounces back. Good luck with the sale.

Doesn't seem crazy to me, why do you say this? Do you think it would go for more based on the low mileage?
