To make it fit, you need to use some low profile right angle RCA phono plugs for the audio input. I found some on ebay for $0.99. All wiring tucked under carpeting.

I look forward to hearing yours in action this summer at one of the GTG's Clive. My car came with an aftermarket stereo with reasonably good components, but it sounds like crap. Maybe it is just missing the bass.

Mine is not the original either Just although I do have it . i took it out and put in a low end Blau as i spend more time listening to the engine than the radio. i just thought it might be neat to tinker with this ... not that I ahve ordered it , I wonder if my head unit has a sub - out ... doh !!!!

Infinity make a self powered box that runs at about $150US and fits very nicely in the boot. My friend has one and says that it's more than enough bass in his 911 cab, I still haven't heard it yet though.

There are a lot of sub options for the boot, but you have a lot of steel between them and the cab reducing the effectiveness of the bass (unless you cut a pipe through the firewall). This other option is pretty direct being under the seat.

SHO:
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X491 deck (low-end), Infinity Kapps speaks, Infinity 7541 4-channel amp, Infinity Basslink 10" sub. Nice. Still wish I had my old Pioneer EQ6500 equalizer, but the rest is ok. The infinity sub is pretty good for everyman, but the old 10" 2/3 cu ft unported handmade box I had was much better, sharper, crisper, faster hits.

911: Nakamichi CD400 deck, Infinity Kappa speaks, no amp, Clarion SRV303 sub. Bass is so-so, finding a good balance between listening level & sub level is key - drop the overall volume, and the bass is noticeable (negatively), too loud the bass gets lost. I also have a Cab, so this is with top-up. Top down, yeah, any quality is gone with this setup.

I have seen dual 12" subs installed in the front trunk before. More bass than you could ever want. I don't know how much cutting of the firewall was required, but I would hope none at all.
