Default Underseat subwoofer

I found a powered subwoofer that fits perfectly under the drivers seat of my '84 911. High end audiophile gear it isn't, but then a Targa isn't exactly Carnegie Hall, either. Boss Audio Bass 600; I bought one on Amazon.

To make it fit, you need to use some low profile right angle RCA phono plugs for the audio input. I found some on ebay for $0.99. All wiring tucked under carpeting.

WOW, that's a great price & higher output than the Clarion SRV303 I have under the pass. seat of my '84 Cab. Nice find.

Steve: How much heat does it put off, and how close do you have it to your DME relay & ECU? What did you anchor it too?

Pete: it doesn't get too warm, but I don't crank it up that much either, and I more often than not drive with the window open, even in the winter. I positioned the sub about an inch behind the electronics, and there is zero room for it to move side to side; it just fits between the seat mounts. The unit comes with a big strip of velcro to attach it to the floor.

Next I am installing XM in the glove box. Trying to keep the car looking stock.

Is there a reason you did not fit it under the passenger seat? Do you have pictures of your install to share with us?

I drove an '07 Carrera 4S recently and I swear it had a subwoofer built into the seat, or at least it sure seemed that way. Thought I would recreate the experience, though I may move it to the passenger side due to the ECU.

Not quite under the seat. And for those that say you can't get decent sound in a 911, just come up & I'll take you for a top-down run that will change your mind.

Great Find

i just ordered one to play with . I am no audio file and have never installed or set up a sub in my life . I will be back sking for help in about 7 -9 business days :-)

I have a blaupunkt head unit installed with overdrive speakers right now so it should add a bit of umph I guess.

I believe Amnesty International lists the 911 rear seat as cruel & unusual punishment for passengers.

Thats interesting you say that. I dont even listen to my radio in my 911, although it has a decent sounding stock radio in it. I have a 1000 watt mono amp that powers my 2 10" subs in my truck..and let me tell you, when I crank it...it gets so hot you could fry eggs on it. Definitely would not want that baby near any thing sensitive.
