Default Dying leather, fixing leather cracks

Hello Everyone,

the leather in my 911 SC needs some work. Some panels have slight cracks others have scratches. I have searched the forum but only found stuff on leather care but not repair.

Can anyone point me to good products to repair slight cracks and dye spots that have lost color due to slight scratches?

Ditto on Dave's advice re Leatherique. Used their products on my M3 last year. Worked like a charm.

If you use the Leatherique filler for small cracks (no tears) in your seats, are you then forced to dye them because they look really terrible at that point?

Yes to that question, unless you have white seats. The crack filler is a white paste.

Not only that, the crack filler can not be used in large quantities. It does much better in small cracks. I found that when used in large amounts, the crack filler itself forms cracks and feels very hard. I see you recognize that by saying you would not try it on tears.

I patched, sewed, and used crack filler as long as I could before I finally just gave up and bought new seats and dyed them.

MUSSBERGER: Is that what a 911 looks like after you use Leatherique?

I will also recommend Leatherique. You will want to use an airbrush for the dye, I was unable to get good results with any type of brush applicator. A $8 dollar cheapie airbrush worked great.

Good point, Jon. I ended using an airbrush after being unhappy with the way the dye looked using a brush and then a rag.
