Default Sold my 88 Targa to a Rennlister - Bought an HD

You guys remember that I sold my 911 to save money for an upcoming wedding (of which planning is going well). Well, I upgraded my motorcycle as well. Here are a couple pics of what I rode home on today:

Sorry I was holding my spot while I was busting a gut. Are you out of your mind? If I pulled the same stunt you guys would roast me at the stake, my wife would change the locks on the house, and my employer would change the company name, move, and sell his Porsche just for good measure. It's a wedding. If she talked you out of a Porsche and into an HD you are going to have issues. She is going to micro manage your life. You could be driving along with 200 HP pushing your soul to new heights but no you have an organ doner V-Twin lumbering along between your legs. She is beautiful. The HD (and the girl).

BTW, you need real biker duds before you get your butt whipped out there.

Very nice. Congrats on the new bike. Someday a Harley will find its way into my garage.

She didn't want me to get the Harley, actually. The Harley was 1/2 the cost of the old 911, but it will hold it's value, just like the 3.2 did.

Oh, by the way, for those who think my choice was Blasphemy, I should remind you that HD folks are just as hardcore about thier air-cooled HDs as we are about Porsches.

Different looking, similar passion.

bullfrogs and buffalo are different, that doesn't make them similar.

I take back all the crap if you did it even though she didn't want you to. that didn't sound right....you know what i ment.

If you have to ask...

A guy at the shop I had picked up a Rigid. Nice bike & all, very hardcore, but ended up trading for a newer soft tail. His body thanked him.

I assume you got a great deal on the HD, given that dealer inventory is way up over last year.

I bought a Sportster this year as a hooligan second bike, after 21 years of riding just BMWs. Simple rule: if ride is less than 100 miles, take the Harley. If over 100 miles, take the BMW.

Steve, that is one sharp bike. I like it a lot, very rat-roddy feel.

You're absolutely right, inventory is way up, so I will let you know that I paid $9600 for this 1999 Road King Classic, but I spent $500 on a removable backrest and luggage rack. The bike came with the quick-release windshield and side bags. Oh, and also, the bike has 8,800 miles on it.

The BMW is one of the best bikes you can ever get. I seriously considered an R1150 a shop had for $9k. But at the end of the day, I couldn't ignore the sound and feel of that HD engine.

Steve, that is one seriously good looking bike. I love those Sportsters, but I need something I can take to the Grand Canyon and back. Actually, you can do it on a Sportster - people do it all the time - but I'm not quite that hardcore.
