Nice bike. There is a parallel between the air-cooled world of HD and the air-cooled world of Porsche, as I'm sure you know. It make the pain bearable.
Hopefully I'll "break down" as long as I can make some good progress on the career. That's the only reason why not to get a P-car: money.

went to heaven.
At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur, "Since you've been such a good man
and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang
out with anyone you want in Heaven."
Arthur thought about it for a minute, then said, "I want to hang out with
God."
St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room and introduced him to God.
God recognized Arthur and commented, "Okay, so you were the one who
invented the Harley Davidson motorcycle?"
Arthur said, "Yes, that's me."
God said, "Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty
unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?"
Arthur was apparently embarrassed, but finally he said, "Excuse me, but
aren't You the inventor of woman?"
God said, "Yes."
"Well," said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some major
design flaws in your invention:
1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusions...
2. It chatters constantly at high speeds...
3 Most of the rear ends are too soft and wobble too much.
4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust...
5. And the maintenance costs are enormous!"
"Hmmmmm, you have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."
God went to His Celestial super computer, typed in a few words and waited
for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.
"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur,
"but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than
yours."

But, and this is obviously the very point, it took the one-and-only Almighty, His-self, PLUS the assistance of His celestial computer to "divine" the difference.
Always the diplomat, however, Murphy is too subtle to say outright what he's implying here:
Get a Harley, and you can be happy riding both!

Call me curious, but why isn't this thread in off-topic? I truly don't see the 911 technical discussion value here. Any moderators hanging around here any more??

I humbly submit that this is what happens when a preconceived, arbitrary structure is set down at the outset, with the well-intended idea of organizing what really is a fluid, changing, evolving discussion.
911 technical discussions here, general discussions (presumably to accommodate rambling, unfocussed this and that) over there. Turns out what was pre-conceived maybe wasn't the best representation of what was always to follow. As things flow, like water taking the path of least resistance, it seems that people with 911 interests in common, keep drifting to non-technically focussed discussions that happen to fall under the 911 rubric.

If I had included some comments about how "air-cooled V-Twin motor oil is a good choice for the air-cooled flat-6," then maybe it would stay.
