ok I'll bite....first a black 318I looking car goes bye, but then a long hood, an almost 912 looking long hood, then the 944 goes flying bye and vanishes into the distance, the silver 964 or 993 gets around you of course, but then the 987???? a 987????? my 20 year old cab could eat a boxter....what a blast that must have been. Why did you have the radio up so loud in the car and why Ozzy Osbourne when you could have had Pink?

Richard, I'm confident that your referrals CAN be trusted - to describe their personal experience. Good cars are sold by bad, ignorant & sterling people. Bad cars are sold by bad, ignorant & sterling people. While it is nice to deal w/ nice people, an enthusiast who has saved up their every last available $ to buy an old Porsche is doing just that, first & foremost.
So can we all concur on 2 transcendent points... a) always get a PPI (& have a trusted friend along as 2nd set of eyes), b) caveat emptor / unless a crime has been committed (& to some extent, even then), it is the buyer's responsibility to verify the product and the deal. {corollary: if it doesn't feel right, walk, but feeling right, alone, is not sufficient to close.} ?

I will no doubt go to victory and look close at the inventory and through indepth (unemotional) due diligence, some day find that car, for now I will drve my 4 POSs and get my kids through college.
fyi
finally got my status to reflect properly and I got the 944 ac compressor rebuilt for $200
I am amazed how many view this thread got

Putting that joint back together has got to be the hardest puzzle I have ever had to do.
lying on your back under such a thing of beauty getting your hands all slimed up is a job some guys would pay to do. Hope that helps....
