Lately I acquired a 1985 Carrera. And the magic took on another dimension. The raw power of it!
This morning my son arrived at the coffee shop inhabited by me and my mates on Saturday mornings. He had with him his mate whose dad had loaned them a 993 S. So I took it for a drive. Holy Smoke! Now I am smitten by the 993. The magic continues ...

I'm looking forward to the time when I actually have the funds and garage space to keep a few of these beauties for my family to enjoy. I daresay their Porsche addiction has started way earlier than mine did.

Ed - thank you for that!
It is a one owner car and like new. I had a cuppa tea this morning with the bloke who ordered it in 1985 and from whom I bought it a couple of weeks ago (with only about 49,000km on the clock). He treated it like a baby during the last 22 years - along with the classic Merc coupe, the Series 1 Jaguar E type convertible etc., etc., in his garage.
Then a 996 turbo came into his life with 30,000km and he decided to let the 3.2 go to a new home. He took me for a spin in the turbo this morning. Blew me away!
But he is a bit cranky about all the electronics that dominate everything in the 996. He is particularly unnerved by the fact that he cannot check the engine oil level with a dipstick!!
By the way, that little fella in your avatar has the colouring of my grandson Max!
Here he is, in the back of the 3.2 the day I picked it up:

Time machine, o.k. but 15 minutes!? here's the deal. all week the sun set in san diego at 7:40 when we could see it. It dropped into the ocean every night except when it was overcast. tonight I'm back home, just outside L.A. and 7:40 went on by with the sun still up. 7:50 and still up, at 7:55 it went behind the hills and I didn't really see when it dropped off the horizon. Question is....did I pick up 15+ minutes in my 911, or is L.A. that much further west than san diego?
p.s. saw a '92 968 cab for sale, "160mph 4 banger"
