Even before the age of 15 I started collecting everything Porsche . I prolly have 30 unbuilt 1/24 scale Porsche that are still in unopened boxes, that I will finish when I am unable to drive.

I have always had the screen name flatsixnut or flat6nut even before I ever owned a 911. Everyone that has ever known me knew what kind of car I lusted after. I am a true Porsche nut....it does not matter to me what model Porsche you own...you are my brother/sister.

The guy I that I got a ride in his 69 911S, well we still to this day go for runs....he still has the same car plus a 56 Cab. He always knew I would own what I lusted after.

My 911 sleeps in a one car garage under a fitted cover, while my wife and my own daily drivers which are new...sit out side. It may sleep as a garage queen, but when it gets taken out (often), it gets driven the way it should be. I love the smell of the car. It is a true sports car that nothing new I have driven comes even close to. I always run with the radio off and the windows down, and i could care less what others think about me or my car....I love the car for what it is...not for what people think it is.

I could go on and on, but I think you get my point......I am a true Porsche NUT.

I agree with Brett.

My first drive in a 911 was my older brothers 77 Copper Brown Targa and his 69 911-widebody conversion auto-cross car back in 1985 blasting up the switchbacks on Sandia Peak, NM. I still remember that day like the first time i had ....

Now since I picked up my 82 Targa, the newer cars sleep in the driveway and the Porsche takes up the middle of a 2 car garage while I am awaiting to pick up the new brake parts.

Took me abouit a week to figure out which stinking brake pads to use on the Targa, any other car I would have just slapped on a set from Autozone

Great posts by all. I have to agree about the smell. Every time I open the door and slide down into the seat, I take a nice big wiff and instantly have a huge grin on my face. Then starting her up and hearing that motor sing, it just doesn't get any beter. I'm back in 1987!

Well, I have owned a 1994 ZR/1 Vette, and a 2002 C5 Vette, both of which had gobs of horsepower and torque... Also a 1987 Grand National, and a 1970.5 Z/28 Camaro with the original 350/360 LT1... both new and all of the horsepower one could ask for...

So what do I drive today? An '83 SC, with the prettiest Rear End I have seen on anything since Ann Margaret... No tell the truth, folks... it's the *** end of these cars that make them what they are, right? Right???

So most all of us are re-living our past by owning the Porsches we could never afford when new. Nothing wrong with that, it's 95% of the old car hobby IMO. I got hooked on the appearance and sound of 911s while strolling the hangars at Sebring in 1969, when there were a number of 911s being prepped for the race. Then later at Road Atlanta in April of 1973 when I got my first look at the 2.7 RS that raced in IMSA that year. At that time I could barely afford my FIAT 124 Spider. It was years later that I actually got to drive a 911, and that solidified my intention to own one some day.

Default Stuck in the 70's!

I was first hooked on the Pcars back in the 60's! Growing up only had VW's but learned how easy they were to work on and when I finally purchased my first VW/Pcar (914 1.7ltr) I was hooked! Couple months later there was a 71 911E sitting beside it and the slippery slope began! Converted the E car to a RS with flares, wide fuch mounted with Pirelli CN36's and upgraded suspension to S struts with Koni's all the way around! I've had all the muscle cars, but the Pcar is and always will be my favorite! I'm definitely stuck in the 70's! Cars/music/movies........

I would definitely say that I am not reliving my past when I could not afford one. I wanted what I wanted, and still want. If I was a Qazillionaire I would have a huge garage with maybe an RT12, and a 997GT3RS, the rest of the garage would be filled with older air/oil cooled 911's and a 356 Outlaw with a flat6.

I think it is safe to say that our cars get into our souls. for what ever reason we got them they become part of us. just turning the key and hearing the engine jump to life, man what a rush. thanks guys, keep 'em comin'.

I can't remember the first time I ever saw a Porsche. I do remember being with my dad when I was 17 or 18 years old (I'm 57 now) and seeing one and telling Dad, "Thats the car I want". I remember him saying they are for "rich playboys". I remember thinking hell I know I want one now!! It took me 40 years but I got one.
