Default Hard start...Euro 3.2

Ok its never failed yet but don't want it to but it takes about four cranks to get the car started. Its an 87 3.2L. Plugs recently changed but am gonna pull them to see if Im running rich and thy are fouled. No o2 sensor, no cats. Spark plug wires are original, coil is original, car runs fine and holds proper idle ect.

If you're going to pull the plugs, I would do it prior to when you think it's going to be a hard start. This would reveal any fuel leakage problems as the car is sitting.

Do you get black sooty exhaust as you're starting the car? This would be evidence of a rich condition.

My feeling is that you might have a fuel pressure issue. If you don't have enough fuel pressure at the injectors, it could take awhile given that the fuel pump only spins while the engine is spinning.

I pulled the afm and the vacuum lines and they are Black.....cleaned them with crc afm cleaner, now its nice and clean, I also put some tecron fuel injector cleaner in and am gonna run the car a bit tonight, found a vacuum leak, which is fixed. Ill pull the plugs if problem persists. No black sooty exhaust on start up.

Could the fuel filter be shot?

I believe the fuel filter should be replaced every 2 years, according to the manual. It could definately be shot, and replacement is pretty easy. If you don't have a record of when it was replaced, I'd replace it, along with the air filter element.

You know it just sounds like fuel pressure to me .. after the fourth crank it has enough gas to start ..
or te mixture .. when you say 4 cranks what do you mean , you turn the key and the engine goes about 4 revolutions before starting , or you have to let off the key 3 times and on the fourth it starts ?

4th crank and it starts....I dont have to keep turning the ignition off. Funny thing is it runs fine just wanna prevent a break down somewhere.

Mine starts on about the second or 3rd depending on how long it has been sitting . I am not sure it is an issue unless it used to start on one .
