Default UFO found in 911SC!!!

Okay, if I can get the photos to load up, maybe one of your folks can solve this mystery!

I pulled the (original appearing) Turn Signal and Corner Lamp Lenses off my 911SC as one appeared to have a burned out bulb and the other (passenger side) Corner Lamp just didn't "Look Right"...

Everything is fine until I pull the Lens from the passenger side Corner Lamp...
There is some sort of an Unidentified Found Object "installed" in the corner lamp...
and the bulb is sort of pushed down to the bottom of the lamp housing, and not working...

Photos of the front and rear sides of the "Object" are attached... Feel free to guess what this may be! Am I being tracked by the FBI or some even more sinister Governmental Agency??? The cable that exited the device is still installed in the car, and runs somewhere to the interior, but I have not been able to trace it after it leave the wheel well.

There is no identifying info an the item... it says "Plessey" and the numbers "36-80" on one end... it was definitely professionally installed and the cable leading into the car is a five pin computer style cable (only four pins are in use...)

It had obviously been in the car for a long time, as the back of the connector was somewhat corroded. "Verrrry Strlange"

Call me 214-276-3844

One of two things has happened. But yes it is a tracking device. Old one at that.

Early positioning device. I cant tell if it is GPS or not. It would seem so though and I would look for another piece. They installed them in something high sometimes in the dash sometimes in the roof or window frame.

It is an RFCD

Its an older model.

After a phone call I will say yes its a tracking device usually designed for covert use.

The history of owners for your car would be interesting.

Now that's an interesting discussion thread.....I'd love to see the car's history......how about running it for us....this is not the usual sort of thing one runs into.

Hmmmm...just gets interestinger and interestinger! I have the complete (I thought!) history of the car, and it's pretty straightforward...
Purchased new in August of 1983, as one of the last SC Coupes imported and sold by Holbert's Porsche in Warrington, PA, to a local physician...
Sold to the 2nd owner in 1999, who lived in the same general area, and was a kitchen designer...
He kept it until about six months ago, and I bought it from him, (now retired and living in South FL).

Fausto says it definitely is an older tracking device...could be a forerunner to a LoJack system, but earlier than that and rather expensive, back in the day..."Plessey" is/was a Gov Contractor for such devices... old transitor technology... the cable leads to a power source and probably a second antenna somewhere up in the car...

And...usually used for covert Government ops... Makes one wonder what (or who) the Doc was treating??? Porsches are never boring!!!

It's a stolen Soviet nuclear bomb.

Your car will soon turn into a mushroom cloud.

subscribed.... this is good.....

reminds me of a story I recently heard about my mate who just bought a Cigarette power boat from Florida, this is the history of it in the P.O.'s words:

"It was built at Cigarette for Dennis Conners in 1989 for the Americas Cup Race in San Francisco (hence the red, white and blue). It was later sold to Phil Lipship and he has owned it twice. Once it was found off of Miami by Coast Guard after running Cuban Refugees and then was owned by
a guy who owns Cheater Nightclubs here in Florida. I bought it from a Doctor who killed his wife and went to prison. That is how I got it."

It can't detonate now...I have successfully extracted the device and dismantled it...

Wait a minute...what are all those sirens and police cars doing at the end of my street???

Honey, did you trip the alarm system again? Honey? Hey, where did everyone go.....???

Very well made and serious tuff:
1980 - 1989
Into the 1980's and many Plessey sites flourished:

Poole, where Plessey dominated the Command and Control business;
West Leigh, for research and production of avionics;
Ilford, for radio communications;
Templecombe, for sonar research;
Newport, for Underwater Systems production;
Isle of Wight, for manufacture of ground and surveillance radars;
Addlestone, for surveillance radar processing systems and Air Traffic Control systems;
Beeston (formerly the British Ericsson Telephone Company), for telecommunications;
Chorley, Sunderland, South Shields and Towcester all flourished as satellite factories.

Weird!
Try contacting Plessey?

Now what might have happened had the good doctor needed to replace a bulb?

Could be an early style LoJack...
I am going to try and contact them and see if the UFO is 'One Of Theirs"...
If not, it's "one of the USA's finest"!!!

Interesting that there is NO record of any installation of such equipment in all of the records for the car, and I have a two inch binder absolutely stuffed with service records...
I's definitely a professional installation, but not factory...
