Burning Brakes
LoJacks were location devices that helped the local police find your car if it was stolen. I'm not sure what kind of signal they put out since they came out when cellphones were still big bricks.

This sounds to me like "government stuff"....in which case do you really think there'll be any records? I'd frame it in a shadow box and stick it on the wall....a come up with a great story for the grand kids.

LoJack is still around. They install them in secure areas without others watching. When you have it installed, even the owner doesn't know where the box is located. I have it in one of my cars.

Plessey were a great British company, in the American tradition, maybe like Lockheed, HP of old, or Grumman. Sadly the're German now.... Siemens IIRC. Like most of our UK engineering and capacity it's been sold off due to pressure from the Chineese. The only reason British Aerospace stands is because of it's US links. Their semiconductor stuff was bought up by Mitel Canada, and is now Zarlink (or what's left of it).
They started in the 1920's. In their heydey, Plessey did everything from Jet engines, through to Parallel microprocessors.
They had a components business, which died with the advent of VLSI semiconductors. I was wondering if your unit had a Plessey component in it, or if it was actually a Plessey component it's self. Is the Plessey marking on the chassis, or a subcomponent?
