Hello Rennlist,

I'm a relatively new (Jan '07) member. The is my first post, which will simply be a general introduction. In terms of my brief history with Porsches, I am now on my second air/oil cooled 911. My first was a '79 Euro SC Targa. I bought that one in a general state of disrepair in 1990. Over time, and much sweat equity, I transformed it into a daily driver; except for a few water leaks ;-) I still have the '79, but I've recently added a '88 Carrera Targa. My friends all tell me that make me a Porsche collector, but somehow it doesn't feel as distinguished they all assume. This time, I was fortunate enough to acquire one in near perfect mechanical and aesthetic condition. There is not much to fix, but now I am getting into DE events - so I am exploring the world of performance modifications. I look forward to exploring that with the group.

More to come...

Welcome. I, too, have an 88 Targa. You'll love the car. I ran my first DE last week and it was great fun, and I learned a lot. If you have any questions, there are quite a few knowledgeable people on this forum. They will be a great help

DE stands for "Driver Education." It is an event that PCA puts on (for Porsche cars and members) that aligns Porsche owners with instructors on a race track. It's not racing, per se, but it is about learning your car, being able to drive quickly and safely, and having a great time. The last one I did, for example, was at Blackhawk Farms Raceway (http://www.blackhawkfarms.com/), and cost $170 for the full day of on-track experience + in-classroom schooling.

The car is diamond blue metallic, new to me at 108K miles, presently completely stock except two modifications introduced by the previous ownership: (1) 17" Turbo Twist wheels; (2) new audio system: JVC/Bostwick/Infinity. Other than that, the best way to provide more details on the car is to post pictures, so here we go...
