It's time to finish off my suspension.
I'm looking for torsion and sway bars front and back.
86 911 sees maybe 10 track days a year.
Currently have:
Bilstein Sports (I don't want to revalve so I need to match them)
ER Polybronze bushings front and back
Mono-***** front and back
Turbo tie-rods
I'm thinking ER or Smart set-up (dealers feel free to respond)
As I am half way there now, I want to do it right.

Hi:

To match your shocks and provide a suspension setup for what you do, I'd suggest 22mm/29mm Sander Engineering tubular torsion bars.

Depending on what you use for track tires, I use either 20mm or 23mm SR swaybars.

Whatever you choose make sure you don't buy Sway-a-way hollow T-bars! My rear 29mm T-bars cracked from the spine to the mid section during hard cornering and caused my car to spin off the track. Luckily the damage was minimal, I should have bought Sanders or Elephant Racing.

Rod: I concur with Steve (Hi, Steve!) - your car will be brutal on the street, but wicked on the track!

Steve: Are SR sway bars as nice as Charlie-bars? (I had those on my PCA car and found that they really responded well to small changes, and they never showed fatigue or broke!)

Charlie Spira quit making his swaybars 3 years ago so we use, recommend, and sell the Smart Racing ones.

I was hoping the "Masters" would chime in!
22mm/29mm Sander bars. Is the spring rate the same for all makes?
If I went with ER or Smart would they be as good?
I'm running 16" SO3's now. Track tires and a race seat are on the list. I'm the only one without them right now.
Would I go with front and rear sway bars? Should like the Smarts are the way to go.
Will it be that rough of a ride? I found the Bilstein Sports made it rougher, but the ER polybronze bushing really added to the stiffness.
Stiff is okay. DD in the summer, but only me in it.

You got Both Master Steve and Master Pete to advise you ...you got juice, or what?

I see you eventually went with the ER PB bushes ...cool! And sphericals, too! You are building a real wolf in sheep's clothing there, kudos! You will like 22/29 ...it is a verrry nice setup. I've got 22/31, and even that is not objectionably stiff (on good roads) ...not that I can add anything of substance to what these real P-car guys have recommended! Enjoy!

Advice from "master" Steve and "master" Pete is the nuts!
Can't imagine who else you were asking to weigh in.
When I did my 84's suspension, I just went up to OEM Turbo Torsiona and Sway
bars because I still wanted it very streetable. But it sounds as if you are trying to keep up with the Jonses on your upgrades. Perhaps you like the way one of your friend's cars ride and handle. Then duplicate their setup.
Other than that head the advice of Steve W and Pete.

I just want the car to be the best it can be.
I don't like doing things twice. Been there done that.
As far as borrowing a car. It would need to be on a track and I wouldn't ask.

When I started shopping for a Porsche, I looked at lesser cars (no offence as all Porsche's are our children) and then I asked myself "Do I want to be the guy sitting at the lights looking over at a car saying "one day"?".

I would really appreciate some more advice on brands of torsion bars and sizes of sway bars.

We use, recommend, and sell Sander Engineering tubular torsion bars. Nothing better, IMHO.

I never said borrow or drive their car. Ride with them, especially on the track and street. I did that before doing my suspension and then could appreciate that I didn't want a track setup for the street. If you create a tooth jarring street ride, you'll be deoing it anyway, especially if your SO rides with you and isn't happy.
