Default I'm 40: Old Enough to own a Classic 911?

Turned 40. Few years back, people told me that I am not old enough to say I am facing my midlife. So here I am. Am I old enough to drive a classic 911?

My '76 is older than i am

If you are serious about owning one, and have the means, porsche ownership shouldnt be limited to any particular age bracket.

Bought my '84 at 35. I think the general rule here is this:

You aren't allowed to own a Porsche if you're able to be talked out of it.

You should see if you can drive a few 911s, maybe a pre 87 and a post 87 . There is a really good comparison article in this months Excellence. I would reccomend a subscription as a present to yourself. If you read enough magazines you will pretty much be sure you want a Porsche of some kind.
I grew up with older european cars, so a 911 SC seems to suit me well. I have also owned 944s one a turbo and 928s. They are all great cars, the turbo being a stellar performer and quite modern in feel. I really like the 911s however, and enjoy the drive. They have a very direct and mechanical feel, good performance, and require skill and practice to drive well. To me this enhances the experience. I also think that it may be a little easier to find a good one, and to hook up with a mechanic who can take care of whatever you don't do yourself. Keep in mind that for the price of a good one you could also have a boxter, another great and rewarding car. Do your homework first, and take the opportunity to explore your options. Marry in haste, repent at your convienience.

Figure out what you like, find out what a PPI is and caveat emptor. I think there is a dream Porsche out there for you. Make sure it isn't your fifth.

Ditto. Bought my first 911 at 27. Bought my second 911 at 32. Bought my third 911 at 37. I should be ready for my 4th at 42.
