G50 Transmission in '87.
Rear Torsion bars from an '86 won't fit in an '87.

In addition, the '87 cars went up to 214 hp and 195 foot pounds of torque. Porsche rated the '86 cars at 200 hp and 185 ft lbs. There has been debate over the years as to if the '84 to '86 cars were really only 200 hp and might have been underated...

For US model cars, 1987 finally brought an update of the headlights to the H5 style headlights which resembled the H4 headlights used in Europe. 1986 cars used the so called "sugar scoops" for headlamp trim rings (in use since '74?) which surrounded regular sealed beam headlamps.

The rear "Porsche" reflector assembly was changed for 1987. I believe it was changed to integrate rear fog lamps in ROW cars.

The 3rd brake light was moved down to the base of the rear window for 1987.

Man, I can't think of anything else...!

It's been my understanding that DOT laws/regulation prevented the US cars from having the H4/H5 headlamp assemblies.

This was 'real', and was due to a remapping of the DME chip with more aggressive (yet still somewhat conservative) mappings. A 'good' upgrade for all the 3.2s is a Steve Wong chip (911chips.com), but obviously, if you're replacing a stock '84-86 chip, you get even more bang for the buck. You could also swap in a '87-'89 stock chip and get the 'factory upgraded chip' ...there's plenty around (thanks to SW).
