Default OEM wipers for my 3.2 Carrera I just bought are not working!

I bought some new OEM wipers from Pelican, and I'm not that impressed. They leave water streaks while running, and the drivers' side wiper doesn't even fit completely on the windshield. Is anyone running a different wiper on their 3.2 Carrera that they recommend?

Same problem w/ the Bosch replacements. The left wiper has about 3-4" sticking into the air when they are parked.
At least they are fairly decent wipers on the areas they touch.
I've decided to refrain from driving the Porsche in the rain, so such trivial things don't really matter.

I had a same problem on driver's side wiper sticking into the air. In fact, I've yet to see a 3.2 or a SC with driver's side wiper fit perfectly (not stick out) when it's parked at the bottom. Like Dan, I don't drive mine in the rain, so I rarely use my wiper.

All 911's from day one have the wiper sticking up on the driver's side. Been almost 41 years now.

murphyslaw, I buy a lot of stuff from Pelican, but I buy my wipers from a local parts place such as Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc. Whoever has the 13 inch size. That way if they don't work properly, I take them back and they replace them. Pelican would probably send you new ones, but time and shipping gets involved. One way shipping would almost pay for one blade.

OEM or OE? Big difference in quality for 993s, likely for the shorter 911 blades as well. OEM Bosch on top. OE Porsche box on the bottom. You really need the extra hinge to conform to the curved 911 windshield (same as 993).

wipers shmipers, they are there for "legal" requirements, over 80 and the water just beads right off of a 911 windshield

RallyJon, what is the difference between OEM and OE in general?

This is true, but are you sure that your wiper arms are not switched? I have seen a LOT of 911s where the left and right side wiper arms are switched and they won't work quite as well this way. The arm that has the bend in it right before the part where the blade attaches goes on the right hand, or passenger side if your're talking a LHD car. The straight arm goes on the left (driver's) side.

AKAIK
oe - the actual original equipment your car came with . Can be obtained by dealer
oem - part made by company that made the part originally but may not be identicle.

Interesting - I may have mine switched, since I did not notice any difference between the two blades. I will have to check this...

I just replaced the wiper blades on my wife's Acura MDX with Bosch ICON blades and am really impressed. They do not have the typical hindges that make a tight fit on the windshield difficult. When you take them out of the box the naturally bend to almost a semi circle and once on the windshield they fit nice and tight. I will look into using them when I need to replace the blades on my 911. I am not sure if they come in the proper lengths for our cars but definately worth looking into.

Yes, the blades that I ordered are the same on either side. So these must just be generic blades. I will look into the Bosch ICON blades...

In my post above I mean the wiper arms (that attach to the car), not the blades. Make sure the bent arm is on the passenger side and the straight one is on the driver's side. Like I said, I see these switched all the time. If they are, you just have to pry the cap off and they are each held on by a nut. The shafts that the arms slide onto are splined, but it is pretty obvious how they are supposed to go. If this isn't the problem, then try bending the blades slighty to fit the curvature of the windshield.

I checked the blades and noticed exactly what you mentioned above - the passenger side is the bent one, while the drivers side is straighter. But shouldn't they be switched? It would seem that the drivers side blade would adhere better if it were attached to the bend arm. After all, the bend curves toward the windshield...?
