79 SC with 194,000 miles, never opened up, good oil presure, and do not have to add oil between 3000 mile oil changes. Fricken car looks and drives amazing! (tranny and clutch rebuilt at 160,000 mls.)

Thanks, all! Your testimonies confirm what we've all been "hearing" for years: i.e., "bulletproof"!
FWIW, my SC Trackmeister was torn down by the PO at 120K miles for just a headstud. The rest of the engine (apparently, by a trusted wrench) said all was still good, but the PO had some extra cash and lots of ambition and so did a full, mainbearing-to-top end rebuild (with orig p/c, but refreshed everything else) ...one of the reasons I chose to buy this car. It now has about 140K and feels amazing. I look forward to another 100K+ of driving/tracking this marvelous gem!

well, as far as I know the od-meter has rolled over 3 times, to full 0 then promptly broke before I got it. And I have driven it for about a year now. The 2.7 was replaced with a 3.0 in 1991.

My 1976 Targa went 147,000 miles on the original 2.7! I put in a 42,000 mile 3.2 in it, and now it's got 242,00 on everything except the engine and front struts. (Not counting wear items of course). The only reason my 2.7 lasted as long as it did was the cool climate's it lived in before I got it, (Seattle and Santa Cruz), IMO. It was pretty tired, but it never failed to start, and never stranded me.

1985 Cab. 174K miles with engine never openned. Oil consumption is 1000-800 miles /qt.
The 915 tranny is another issue.
Actually I consider high mileage no big deal with good maintenance. I sold a 1991 Range Rover last year and my freind has 187K on it, valve job once since wife overheated it. My 1997 5.7L Tahoe is at 138K and burns zero oil in 3000 miles. I often read about engines going 200-300K, not just Hondas...Fords and GM.
