Default Should I be nervous?

I'm getting closer to buying a G50 3.2 Carrera - my first Porsche. I must admit I'm a bit nervous about potential repair bills. I've done my homework, found a nice car, and will definitely have a reputable shop do a PPI. If it passes successfully, should I just relax? Those $6,000 engine rebuild stories scare the heck out of me, not to mention clutch replacement.

Please give me some words of wisdom!

well btd50,
take it like this: it is like getting married with a hot, nice girl. You never know how much you have to pay but you take the risk .
Enjoy it, life is always a little bit risky.

If you did your homework, as you say, then relax and enjoy! An engine rebuild requirement just doesn't appear out of the blue and a proper PPI will give a good indication of current engine condition (compression and leakdown #'s). Other than that if everything works, it looks good and drives good you will be fine for quite some time if you simply maintain the car correctly.

You don't mention anything about the car, mileage, pictures, etc. so my comments are generalities at best. Of course you need to subscribe to Rennlist ASAP also..

Anything in life is a potential money pit - wives, houses, kids, cars, boats, etc... Just get a PPI and relax. What happens will happen. At least the car will bring a smile to your face...

I have ben nervous about both my Porsches I have bought . lets face it it is an unknown .. Lets face it you are making a big investment and you are nevous .. it is natural .. it is kind of like getting married after seeing your wife only twice... I at least hope you took her for a test drive .. er that would be the car ...
I have never regretted either car ........ if you are at all nervous throw 50.00 a week into a bank account designated car repair.. the longer the car goes the more comfortable you will be with your nest egg growing... I did that with my first 944 and I had about 5G before I had to dip into it .. and that was for new tires ...

good luck , you will have a blast ...

And it turns out to be a buddy of yours and you find out after you marry her.

Well let's think about worse case scenario...so if the motor needs a rebuild...so what? Yeah, you're "out" $6k, but then you are secure in the knowledge that your motor is going to last a long, long, looong time.

But more than likely you won't have any major problems...not with a G50 3.2 Carrera. Not if you've done your homework (like you said).

If the PPI checks out don't sweat it. Measure the value for your dollar spent by looking in the rearview mirror and seeing that s***eating grin on your face each and every time you drive.
By far the best fun quotent car for the money available. Vinoviva

My PPI is tomorrow.
Just like you, I'm nervous and, frankly, pretty giddy!

If the PPI goes well I'm flying halfway across the country tomorrow night on the red eye, inspecting the car myself on Friday and, hopefully, I'll be driving my new car home through the weekend.

The drive is freakin' me out too.

At least as long as you don't crash, or let it rust out from under you, it'll still look as good as it did the day you got it Those are better odds than you get with the hot, nice girl you end up marrying

Go for it!
