Should I be nervous?

Just remember your tool kit - a cell phone , 2 credit cards and a laptop.
Seriously, a good PPI will uncover any issues that could come up on the drive back.
My '86 hasn't let me down in the 26K miles since I've had it.
On the off chance that anything comes up, use the laptop to get on this forum and put out the SOS.

I would not have traded the way it happened - I got a weekend away and spent some great time with my new car.

You mentioned "giddy".
Don't be so giddy that you buy a car with too many issues turned up by the PPI.
Oh yeah, pack lots of light clothing and be prepared to drive naked as the AC on these cars is ballast.

Call a couple of local flat bed companies and tell them what you are doing.
They charge hourly both ways so you might as well use a local company.
This way, no matter what happens, you'll get home.

btdt: Don't want to throw a wet blanket over your party, but an engine rebuild for a 3.2 car will cost closer to $14K than $6K. There are different levels of repair needed by different engines, some only need a valve job to correct high oil consumption (usually less that $3K), or at the worst, a valve job, new pistons & cylinders and rod bearings (about $8K). With luck "your" car will test fine, and the seller has been honest with you regarding oil consumption, which should not be worse than 1 quart/800 miles.

Well, I just got the results back from my PPI - looks like I'm flying to Texas tonight and driving the car back to L.A. over the weekend!
Tell me what you guys think:
Positive List
• A/C blows cold.
• Has front oil cooler.
• Brakes 80%.
• Oil lines on side of car not damaged.
• Good leakdown (all 1% or less).
• Sunroof works
• All lights work.
• Car tracks straight (doesn't need alignment).
• Brakes feel good.
• New air filter.
Negative List (all items on list are very cosmetic negatives)
• Oil pressure gauge erratic (needs sender)
• A/C hose on deck lid rubbing on body.
• Front trunk light not working.
• Four year old battery. Needs battery vent
• Left front fender pulled out.
• Left rocker panel bent
• Front and rear valance have some damage.
• Alt. belt loose.
• Cruise control cable broken.
• Auxiliary heater fans not working.
• Noisy valve on 4-5-6- side.
• Car has been repainted, has some blemishes and rock chips.
So, I don't see any deal-breakers there. All stuff that I can fix or live with.
The Porsche is an '87 Coupe, Polaris Silver with 100,000 miles and she will be mine!![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Sorry to hijack your thread, btdt50. Good luck with your search!
