PLEASE let me know if you can, in ANY way concerning performance, compare a 911S to a Toureg. Whoever made that statement is either a total idiot or someone fishing for response.

I believe the person who made that statement was comparing the Cayenne to the Touareg, not the 997 or Cayman, but I could be wrong.

So, there is a difference between a Cayenne & a Cayman?
I don't get it, they're both Porsches...

I am newly registered. I have been following this thread with interest. I vintage raced for 18 years TR4A, Alfa, Formula Ford, Formula VEE & PCA with a '81 SC. I have a '97 C2S & A Cayman on order. I can afford a 997S. I love a well balanced car over flat out performance. I ordered the Cayman based on Boxster S street drives and the write ups. I didn't buy a Boxster because I don't want a convertible. The 997 is a great car but you have to drive them way too fast to get real enjoyment on the street. Buy what you love & can afford. I even liked the way my MB C43 drove although it was much different than a Porsche.

Default My bad

Ian - you are correct - upon review, the gentleman was comparing the Cayenne S, not the Cayman, to the Toureg. I read imprecisely. I guess I look forward to the Cayman Forum and will enjoy vicariously the thrill of owning one. Incidentally, if I had my choice of a new SUV, I understand the Toureg is rated quite well.
