Porsche Approved Tire List
Since I see various questions on approved tires....this is the latest list that Porsche published, dated January 2005. The 'N' designation represents a tire approved by Porsche (there have been articles in Christophorus on the process). There is no differentiation between a tire with a higher or lower 'N' number, that is, an N3 tire is not better than an N1 tire, it's only an indicator.

Bill, I think on the Toyo tires, you might mean T1-S. If so, they are an awesome tire. I haven't heard of an F1-S, just T1-S, T1-R (new), and FZ4 (all season).
FWIW, I used T1-S for rains at Road Atlanta vs the Kumho Victoracers with good results.

From what I've heard, the T1-S is discontinued and replaced by the T1-R. Also, notice that the Bridgestone S-03 is absent from the list. Looks like either the newer tires haven't applied for N rating yet or else Porsche is a little behind in their evaluation.

Or Porsche is so far behind on their evaluation of new tires and includes so many tires that haven't been available for YEARS that it's basically irrelevant.
They're missing three entire generations of performance Yokohamas, not to mention the latest/best Bridgestones, Michelins, Toyos, etc.
Seriously, does anyone even look at that list when choosing performance tires?

I love my 14" Bridgestone Potenza RE950's for all-weather hi-performance. Now that I've ordered a set of 15" rims (6" fronts, and 8" rears) I would like to hear if anyone has found a better all-weather tire that I could also take to the track on occasion.
Also, this might be best researched in another string, but will 225/60/15" tires fit under my rear fenders without rubbing? I have a factory-lowererd 1977 911S, but am willing to raise it up a little if the extra tread is worth the effort.

The Bridgestone S03 has never been on the list. And that may not be due to lack of Porsche testing, it may be that Bridgestone, and others, have chosen not to make a version of their tires that would stand up to the testing.
And yes, people do choose tires based on the Porsche recommendations.
Oh, and I should have included a footnote that the list was subject to typo's

Thanks, I ordered another set of the Potenza RE950's last night from TireRack. Let me know if there is another source I should consider next time.
