Talking Update - 82 911 SC Coupe

Hello everyone...thought I'd post some photos of the changes to the car. Bought it back in February (post was "is it worth the asking price?"). For those new here - the Rennlist veterans helped me a lot!!!

(1) Removed tint
(2) Removed Carrera whale tail, replaced with OEM decklid, grille & badge
(3) Swapped 16/6x7 Fuchs for 930 16/7x9 Fuchs.
(4) The car is fun to work on! - started today with new front brake pads and cross-drilled rotors.

Taken TODAY:

Here's a couple of the BEFORE shots:

I do want to mention that I will be selling my 16/6x7 Fuchs in the very near future (probably on Pelican). Will post high-res pics for anyone interested here prior to Pelican listing.

G-,
FWIW I like the before pics betterwith the carrera tail. Although the fuchs are a much better look. It's all about personal tastes though.

Thanks fixn! I know many folks really like the whale tails...but what I like the best about these cars is the rear (you can probably tell from my photos). Look at it this way...there's one more tail on the market for someone to add to their car...and make it the way they want it.

The Fuchs made a HUGE difference. I was nervious, spending all that money...but I think it was all worth it now. Even though they are in near-perfect condition, the vaseline made them look MINT!

The interior is going to take some time..and of course lots of dough.

What a healthy improvement. I think if you got rid of the foglights it would also clean up the look a bit more. Car looks great though, she's coming along very nicely

g50... the wheels are awesome. IMHO this is the single best thing you can do to these cars.... money well spent. Car is really clean.

Looks great. Is it Chiffon white? I have an 83 chiffon white with brown interior and I really like the understated look. I'm also a big fan of spoiler-less 911's.

One question, should you take off the front lip spoiler now that there is no rear spoiler so it is balanced?

Thumbs up

The wheels came off of an 88 Turbo not long after delivery and were stored in boxes since. Just couldn't pass that up!

I thought about removing the foglights, but I would then have to replace the valence, since it would have the holes left in it. But I want to make the car more original (hence, removing the spoiler). The Fuchs originally came with black centers, not like those that came with it when I bought it. But in the US, they only optioned up to 16/7x8, so I cheated a little bit with the 9's. I'm leaving the chin spoiler on, as most people say its best to do so. Plus, removing that would again leave small holes from where it connects to the valence.

It is Chiffon white. I really like it. Its one of those colors that changes depending on amount and type of light. Pretty cool. For some reason I think it looks so much richer/classier than the grand-prix white.

The interior needs some work. I will probably redo the leather on the front seats. They are sport seats (which I hear are fairly rare), so I want to keep 'em. It's actually 3-toned right now. Got the Chocolate, tan and black. I'd like to make it all black and tan.

Thanks for the input guys - even if you think I'm going backwards!

The car looks great and I'm with you on the 'no whale tail'. I have a 83 SC and am dying for some 16x7&9s for it. Did you get yours on ebay? I was probably bidding with you.
I just got my SC in February too. Had the brake pads replace to Performance Friction Street/Track, added Turbo tie rods, full maintenance/tune.
Next up: Carrera Oil Cooler; needs it bad, went to the track on Saturday and it was getting hot.

I have black full leather, so I have to settle for this black and tan!

My 82 is the exact same color combo but my wheel centers are a bronze/gold color-wanted to see what black centered Fuchs with polished lips looked like on a chiffon car and the answer is: awesome!!! I have a Turbo tail on my car and I'm thinking of doing Ruf style front spoiler and rear bumper-I like the look and the weight reduction on the car is significant. My brown/tan interior is shot and I'll probably go to an all black interior with recaro seats; also love the H4s.

Sweet car G50!!
