Beautiful car. Good call on removing "shark fin" stone guards...they just don't look right on the narrow (..er, non-wide) bodied 911s.
...really beautiful.

LOL... I knew what you meant Randy.
Doug: The paint was blended onto the fenders - so it yielded an opportunity to remove the rock guards. If I replace them (ever), I would find clear ones. Thanks for your comments!
The only problem I have with the chiffon are the bugs!!!! I guess it's true, "kills bugs fast."

G-50,
My P.O. had those stone guards put on my 1982 911sc. How difficult was it to remove them? Did you use a hairdryerand pull slowly? Any paint loss? Notice the Sweet Gum Tree ***** everywhere!!! I need a Billy Goat...
Thanks,
Ron

I didn't personally remove them. I asked the body-shop guy to do it for me. The paint is only a couple years old, so they probably came off a lot easier than an older/original paint job. He did use a heat gun, but they came off and left the paint "not-so-perfect." Maybe adhesive residue? That could come off with some WD-40... But he warned me that it could lift some paint off, especially on a re-paint. He faded the paint (from the decklid) over the fenders and got thee spots.
My parents have those tree ***** everywhere...what a pain! Especially if you walk barefoot to get the paper in the morning!

Great looking car! As regards the front air-dam/rear tail issue, go to Technical Forum (on banner above), FAQ 911 SC, Upgrades, bottom of page 1.

G-50,
Removed those stupid looking stone guards last night with a hair dryer and patience. Used polishing compund and wax afterwards. Looks much cleaner like yours. I like the clean look too. Good Advice.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron,
Glad they came off okay! On the lighter cars they really change the appearance. They do protect, but in reality, the front of the car get the brunt of the abuse. Weekend's here - time to get the car out of the garage!!!! Happy motoring,
Chris

Doug,
I heated up the top corner real well, used finger nail to break edge, and then started pulling with the hair dryer below. Let the heat do the work and just pull with about 5 lbs. pressure. Polishing compound and wax will clean up the residue. Takes about 10 minutes each side. Don't get in a hurry. Mine looks much cleaner now. Don't pull too hard and knock your teeth out!!! Patience.
Good Luck,
Ron
