Default Fan belt still loose despite no shims!!

Fan belt is VERY loose. I proudly decided to change shim configuration but found out that all shims were behind the pulley, and none were between the fan and pulley. So the question is, how do you tension further? The belt is the correct one for it, and I've driven a few thousand miles with it tensioned right. should I go to smaller belt anyway?

Thanks in Advance

If the fan and housing is sitting square with the crank pulley, then I'd think about using a slightly shorter belt. Make sure there are no other issues before you do this. You don't want to cobble up a solution to overcome a cobbled up setup.

Thanks for the advice. I tried various shorter belts, but they were pretty difficult to install. And then I realized the washer was bottoming out on teh original setup....only 5 shims were there...so I'm ordering shims from Pelican Parts.

thanks again

I've got the same problem. There was a thread on Pelican recently and I remember that the discussion was about 9.5 vs 10 x 210 belts where the 10 has become the std. It seems that if you can find a 9.5, you're better off.

edit: sorry, I meant 710

thanks! couldn't find a 710, but will keep looking. I DID manage to rtension with the 5 shims and I'm good now!!! let's see how long it will last without a need to retention though
thanks again

Try the P-car dealer. I purchased one a year ago from the dealer and it was so tight, I didn't think I could make it fit. It must have been a 9.5 (can't remember for sure).
