Hi all. Im sure this has been asked somewhere on here but the search function here leaves me more exasperated than informed so I apologize early on this.
I have a '70 911T that has the original 6" heart Fuchs wheels. I will keep those because they are original to the car, but I would like to have what I believe to be 7" Fuchs on all four corners strictly for looks. See photo below that I took off the rennbow.org site showing the size wheels Im searching for. I dont know if wheels came with certain offsets that I need to be aware of for my purposes, or if they are all the same dimension. My questions to those of you that have experience here, can you clarify the offset I should be looking for or steering away from, AND do the wheels in the photo look like 15X7 wheels? I am assuming 7" wheels will fit on a stock '70 without conflict and I dont track this, just drive aggressively in the mountains. Thanks in advance to those of you who see fit to enlighten
those look like 7” fuchs that have an offset of +23.3. they will fit with 205/60-15 (or smaller) tires, but I believe there’s a risk of rubbing the inside of the rear fender/wheel well at full compression of the suspension. I had a set of these on my car with a 205 tire without issue, but my car also wasn’t very low and had a pretty stiff suspension setup.
Thanks Cyber. Im just trying to go slightly larger than 6" stock. The picture I posted is about exactly what Im looking for. I suspect they are 205s or smaller. Ive visited the online offset stuff but felt I needed to make sure I was talking about the correct Fuchs wheels. Ive seen reference to 23.3 offset and some with much greater offset but listed as having been for the RS so I dont expect those to show up in the normal channels.
All 911 7" Fuchs(w/ a single exception) are ET23.3 doesn't matter the year or whether 15 or 16
the exception is the Fuchs 7r wheel which was ET49 and when used on a n/b 911 required spacers, usually in the 8 to 16mm range depending mostly on the tire
7x15 ET23.3 will fit fine all around on a pre SC/Carrera chassis as long as the tires are kept in check, 215/60 on the 7ET23.3 will burb the paint a coul e of inches above the lip in the left rear w/ a stock suspension and ride height. So keep the tires undr 215/0 x15 and you will be fine
the usul successful fits are w/ 205/60 or 205/55, many don't like the look of 205/50 at stock ride height because of the gaps above the tires
185/70 is too small for a 7 so the lower limit is 195/xx
The best look on a skinny fender long hood is a deep6 front with a 185 cn36 or Avon and a 7R rear with the 215 rear. that subtle 'meatiness' looks so good....
Thanks Bill. As ever on the 964 page, I appreciate your technical answer here. Good info guys. I think I know what to look for now. Love the forums
There is one 215 that could work fine either on the front or back of a n/b on a 7
vredestein Sprint+ 215/50 x15 @only 23.5" OD it could be used on a 7ET23.3 f or b, or paired w/ 205/55 or 205/50 front for a staggered set up
the 7r w/ ET 49 moves everything a bit too far infor best appearance and so you need spacers, 16mm spacers gives ET33 which is still sets everything in 9.7 mm more than a regular 7ET23.3, on other words 9/7mm more inboard than fits w/n ET23.3
the only time i'd want a 7r is to use a 225 - 245 tire, these wider tires need to be set more inboard than a 205 - 215 as Cyberbug found out, he also used an 8ET23.3 which will want SC/Carrera rear fenders anyway

Simplification, ability to rotate front to back, and ease of purchase, as well as a good overall look, I think the standard ET23.3 on a 7" should work fine. I dont want too much meat anyway as I want it to look correct. If it has too much traction, It'll suddenly break loose rather than start to slide a bit first. That's my thinking anyway.

It's true that the shorter the sidewall and stickier the rubber the more abrupt breakaway will be
your only decision then is 205/55 @ ~23.8" OD or 205/60 @ ~24.6" OD
the later will look best at stock ride height the former when lowered a bit
