Default Bringing back oxidized fan on a 87 911

Is there a good product to renew the fan blade?
I hate to purchase a new one it’s a ton of labor to replace it.
also the Zinc plated idle control valve is also badly oxidized.
thanks

After a many winter projects I’m finally stoked with the results! It was my goal after purchasing this 3.2 carrera six years ago to totally restore it. Every winter I did a section of the car.

I've seen folks recommend Gibbs Oil rubbed in with steel wool. Not sure how long it will last though. You'll want to remove the fan to do it right.

The Cerakoted fans are beautiful, but you lose the original look.

On my 70E I pulled the fan out and cleaned it with 000000 steel wool and Gibbs while watching the Masters on TV with a cold beer. It was a relaxing way to clean it up. Before I put it back, I also cleaned of the inside and lip on the housing. After rubbing Gibbs oil over everything it pretty much stayed that way. I occasionally just wiped it down and a couple years with zero change. Looked like factory with minor patina. On my 88, I pulled the housing and fan when working on new fuel lines and had the outer housing and lip powder coated. Left the housing inside bare and coated with Gibbs, and Cerokoted the fan. Looks great and not overdone.

Fan is easy to get off. OR, you can buy a brand new fan from Porsche for just under $400 bucks. If there is major pitting, that is a not crazy price, and is a complete restoration.

Hockey is what evolved in Canada over the frustration with trying to golf in cold weather. Hit something round with a stick...I have often thought if we could come up with a team, full contact golf there might be an increase in viewership. But I must confess, there is not much better after spending hours in the yard working, a quick shower and cold beer with the Masters is one of the BEST napping opportunities out there.

Full contact golf is mostly lacrosse. Which Canadians are also pretty good at.

Only poker or snooker are more boring to watch on tv than golf.

I only watch the Masters, US Open and British (sometimes). Less and less though.

Reviving this old thread with the hopes of seeing some before pictures of the refinished fan/housing. I've just purchased my 85 Cab and I'm looking to shine up the fan and housing but I'd like to know if it's too far gone to get a decent result, something close to what @theiceman got would be awesome.

Also, @Rennman commented that it's a lot of labor to get the fan and housing out....I'm new to the Porsche but not afraid to get in there. Any ideas on how long it should take to get the fan and housing out?

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
