Default Anyone know if Classic Porsche Restoration (CPR) is going out pf business?

I'm having a very concerning experience with CPR in Fallbrook, CA and wonder if anyone else is working with them at the moment.

never heard of them before now , so they are a resto shop ? hope your car isn't in there if they are..

I remember when another shop like this went out of business a few years ago and creditor seized everything. The sheriff opened the door for a while so owners could grab cars and there was a bit of a mad panic while people got their cars and stuff,
anyone else remember this ? had to be about 15 years ago now.

Yes, they are a sales and restoration shop. Scary stuff when dealing with high value vehicles, or any for that matter, and a company goes out of business or disappears. I hopes that isn't this case here.

May just be a really, really poor experience I have had with them that is making me question their viability. Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is dealing with them at the moment and things are (or aren't) progressing well for them.

They were long known as one of the premier shops in the country. I had heard a couple years ago (couldn't recall if it was Pelican or Early S Registry) that there was a change of ownership (possibly a death?) that has created challenges -- I recall hearing they had an issue with a stolen/missing high value racecar and other questionable dealings since then. Wish I had more for you -- if it is true that they are on the downhill, it is unfortunate as I have visited that shop and it was tops.

Clive,

Was it Esposito's in North Hollywood ?
I remember all the drama where people weren't able to claim their cars back ...
Could have been another shop too , lots of traffic on Pelican regarding fraudulent shops.

Cheers

Can you share any specifics? Is it a problem with getting a Title, slow progress on a restoration or something really serious like they have your car and your $$ and they aren’t returning phone calls?

Suppose to be premier restorer, name has been around for a while. Youtube is full of cool videos. I get regular emails on their inventory sales.

On youtube you can see comments from keen eye observers on their restorations

their website is nice and basically indicates that they are for the uber rich, restorations start at $185K plus

There are two CPR shops, one is CA and one in Maryland, I have spoken to the Maryland shop. They were linked at one point.

would help hear to what issue you are having.

Sold a car with them a few months ago, and transporting and listing the car was fine. Getting paid was a nightmare, every excuse in the book. Just FYI

Default CPR

I went there to see about consigning my car about 6 weeks ago. I have seen their restoration and sales operations. It is huge. They are terrible at returning calls and emails.

Their website is quite impressive ...on the other hand if they can't be bothered to return emails and phone calls
there is definitely a lack of something there, i can just imagine how they handle the timeline and costs of their customer projects ...

They always have great looking cars on their website but most things don't seem to move very fast. I called once about a car, they seemed nice and easy to deal with.
