Cool price check on 83sc euro

Can anyone inform me what a 83sc euro cab is worth?

It has 109,000 miles on the odometer

22,000 miles on a completely rebuilt motor
10,000 miles on rebuilt transmisson
new ball joints & struts
new cabrio top
Its been repainted.... rockchips and a few dings, but looks ok,
there is one rust spot on top of right front fender.
The interior needs some help, seats are coming apart, dash cracked.
carpets worn a bit. small wear spots in door panels, passenger door doesnt close right, owner says it wasn't in an accident...So why does it sag? and is it an easy fix?

I have read that euro cars sell about 20% less than that of US cars. The owner is asking $14,500. So what do you think? If PPI is positive, is it a Good deal or not? IF NOT.
What kind of offer should I make on this car? Any advise is appreciated.

Is the rebuild of both the engine and tranny documented? IMO a full engine rebuild at about 80K miles means the car was not taken care of properly. Plan on spending a at least a few thousand to get the interior back into shape if that is what you desire. I agree with Mike, the price sounds too high. Maybe $10 - $12K only if the car passes a PPI. Good luck!

Find out if there's a build sheet for the rebuilds (receipts). One man's complete rebuild is another man's valve job...

Repaint, rebuild and new transmission on a 90k miles car looks odd. My car has 120k, original engine, original trans (albeit G50) and original paint. As Jet911 said the car might have been neglected in the past and there might be more hidden expenses.
Plus the door is not right, dash cracked and seats in bad shape. I think you can find better than that at that price. Also remember that the Euro should trade at a discount (don't ask me why but surfing the web and looking at all the ads this is what I found out).

If the paper work checks out. What is a fair offer to make on this car ??(BTW) The owner is a Porsche mechanic if that means anything? He said he has gone thru the thing. and its a solid car. I still will have it inspected by someone else if he accepts whatever I offer. THanks for the feedback.

Price seems high to me to. Definately get a PrePurchaseInspection by another trusted shop. It should cost you about 200 bucks, but it will save you thousands in the long term.

If the paint looks "ok" and the interior is as bad as you describe, i'd think the car is closer to a 10K car. I looked at a euro 79 with the same paint condition and much better sounding interior condition. Similar mileage at(166Km) and the price was below 10k.

I walked because the guy was hesitant about the PPI.

I think a car owned by a Porsche mechanic is usually a bad thing not a good one. Seems like the price is pretty high also.

That picture doesn't look like an 83 euro cab. It has the 84-89 front valance and it doesn't have the euro side marker lights. Really sounds fishy, Seller may not be representing the car properly. Be careful.

Let's analyze this -

Repainted

odd front valance

the door is hanging funny :0

my *** that car hasn't been hit. From this pic passenger door seems tight at rear and bottom.

The very fact he's telling you it's fine is enough to justify walking. Don't call him back. It's not worth $6k if you factor in what it costs to correct it's flaws. Who knows what the actual mileage is since it's a Euro with a swapped Odo.... Owner could very well be a mechanic - at a lot that won't sell this car..

Post the VIN if you have it. That will show if the car is an ROW or US car.

If you are serious about purchasing this car, have the PPI done and have a Porsche guy check for accident damage (its hard to hide). Repainted cars make me nervous, especially if they have low mileage.

The owner may have put the Carrera valence on because it looks better with the resessed driving lights. If I had an SC, I would do the same thing.

GrantG is right. Ask to see the receipts for the rebuild since the definition seems to vary.
