Default 911 T spare wheel

Good morning everyone,

We are restoring a 1970 911 Targa for one of our clients and I wanted to double check what spare wheel the car would have been supplied with originally.

Currently, it has a chromed steel wheel, whilst the car rides of a set of Fuchs.

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Best regards from the UK

My ‘71T came with 5 deep 6s. Would believe if your client’s car was delivered with steel wheels, spare would be the same. Clearly, not an expert here, just what I have on my car and it’s documentation.

5 Fuchs are listed on my original window sticker as an option.

Depending on the market, either 5.5Jx15 non-chromed steelies or 6Jx15 Fuchs were standard in 1970. I do not know whether chromed steelies were still an option in 1970. 14 inch rims were also still an option in 1970. The wheels should all match, of course, and Fuchs are much easier to find than are good chromed steelies (which are almost impossible to get rechromed these days). A COA will tell you what wheels were original to the car.

I can't say what was done in 1970, but my 1973 came with 5 matching Fuchs.

my 71t was factory delivered w/ steel wheels and had 5 steel wheels. 15x5.5"

I suspect, it would depend on what was on the build sheet originally.

Thank you gentlemen - that all makes sense - we'll get a COA from Porsche to confirm the delivery spec.

My 1970T Targa has 6J x 15 Fuchs, but the spare is 5.5J x 15 Fuchs.

COA will let you know what it had for the 4 wheels.
The 5th spare would typically match.

Thanks Chaps - I'm in touch with Porsche to check on the original delivery spec - thank you all for your advice.
