I just got an 87 3.2L today and It's incredible. I bought some rennline billet aluminum ***** to replace the oem dash *****. I was able to switch out the cigarette lighter **** easily, but the fog light **** doesn't seem to be compatible. The stock fog light **** has bulb inside and a long shaft that screws deep into the dash. The rennline **** is just an end piece that should screw onto something sticking out of the dash. In other words, the stock fog **** has a male connector and the rennline fog **** has a female connector.
Anyone successfully install the rennline fog ****?
Weird, I tried that, but it looked like the rubber was just glued around the bulb housing. Didnt seem like there was any threading to catch the Rennline ****. Ok I'll give it another go. thanks guys.
I'll grant that I may just be an idiot, but I don't see how this can be done. I even removed the rubber hood. Here are photos of what remains. Does not seem like there is anything to unscrew.
I removed the bulb ( yes you lose the illumination if you go this route) and used epoxy on those holes to bond mine to the Rennline ****.
If matching ***** is important to you ( they were to me.... I love matching ***** ) Then this is a fix.

Strange that Rennline sells a product that clearly does not work as intended.
I am sure on the older models it works as intended............ the question should be why is it listed for our year car when it clearly needs modification to work. I did a back date so it doesn't bother me.

Agree 100%..... I actually made this one. I know it doesn't have as many layers as a lot of the ones out there......... Issue was finding the correct insert
for the G50 Wevo. Happens to be... M14 x 1.5 pitch threads.
Hey everyone! This is a strange one but I do have some answers. We have found that a very small number of 911's and 930's had these glued stems. I have found them mostly on the fog light *****. I have seen this so far 4x times with varying years of build date (84,85,87). Small batches of different parts is not unheard of for Porsche but I would love the answer on why if someone has it! For the time being I have machined stems for these few examples. If anyone finds themselves needing one please email me and I will be happy to send you a stem --> Russ@rennline.com
Great that your doing this..... I have an 88 with this issue. I made mine work, but it's not illuminated, and that I can live with...... BTW my 88 was all original so it came this way.

Rennline customer service is awesome! I reached out to them about the issue thinking they would just change the compatibility info on their website. They responded very quickly and offered to send me one of the stems referenced above. For anyone reading this thread, they make great products and stand by them.
