Default 1980 911SC Weissach Edition Info

Does anybody out there have any definitive information on what was provided on the Weissach Edition that was different than other '80 SC's? I bought one last year, not because of the special edition thing...just looking for a solid reasonable milage SC.

I know about the Doric Grey interior, carpet, spoilers, bilsteins... I have seen information in several books but it seems to conflict and not be comprehensive. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Custom paint colors Goldish and Dark Greyish (Don't know the official names).
15" Fuchs painted to match the car
Early Carrera Tail

I think that is about it. All other options were available to the normal 1980 SCs.

Please do an archives search, as I believe this was covered in another not-too-distant thread.

Thumbs up

I also have a Weissach. The only upgrades are the leather interior, turbo flares, front/rear spoilers. They are all 3.0 liters same as an SC. It does not have the turbo brakes or suspension. Mine came with Bilsteins. There were 44 made and the thinking was to give the US market a turbo look shortly after the "energy crisis" made performance machines unpopular. Sometimes I think that the car will eventually appreciate due simply to their scarcity but it's hard to predict the future of this car. However, quality mechanical upgrades can be their own reward. At one time I had an Austin-Healey 3000, a 396 Chevelle, a '58 FI Corvette and a 69 911S. Jeez, where are they now?

The Weissach did not have turbo flares. It had the standard body of the SC/Carrera.

I also am home now and just pulled out the Porsche Red book so here is the official info:

408 Built total (Only for the US market)

Choice of Black Metallic or Platinum Metallic exterior over Doric Grey (Looks like a tan) full leather with Burgundy piping. Other options included in this package: whale tail rear spoiler (not Tea Tray), flexible rubber lip for front spoiler, passenger side exterior mirror,, Power sunroof, fog lights, power antenna, door mounted radio speakers, dual speakers in the rear deck, Bilstein shocks, 15X6 painted front Fuchs and 15X7 in the rear.

All other aspects of the Weissach were the same as the regular SC in 1980.

I think the Fuchs were 7 x 15 and 8 x 15. They also had the standard SC body work, which I think has already been mentioned. Don't forget the plaque on the glovebox door.

All the fuchs are gold on the Weissach, regardless of whether the car itself was gold or black.

Here's a pic with a matte finish on the wheels before I clear coated them & lowered the car. I love the color scheme on the exterior, but the interior sucked, it was trashed & didn't want to fix it. So now I'm installing an all black RS interior. I am in the proccess of deleting my options to lighten the car, after I'm done it will only have the Weissach color. I am saving all the stuff I remove, in case many years down the road, somebody wants to restore it. That's provided I don't total it at the track. Racer that is the first I've heard of any plaque on the glovebox door.
