I had this issue as well. It was on the gas/oil level and oil temp/pressure gauges.
I pulled each gauge and then carefully took apart the working mechanisms.
After that, take a Q-tip and spray with a good window cleaner. Go in through the hole where the gauge mechanisms go. Holding the gauge in your hand, carefully wipe out the film that's built up on the inside of the glass. You'll be amazed how dirty it is.
Reassemble and you're done. You may still get a little fog, but not much. Mine get a tiny bit on really humid/hot/rainy days.

Well, there you have it ! Thanks for all the replys-suggestions. I do have some thoughts though, it seems that most agree there is some sort of moisture in these gauges. Going on this premise whats the view of taking the gauges out, taking a heat gun to em and tilt em while keeping heat ? that would evap the h20 and hopefully fix the issue.

turn the oven on to 150 oF - safer than heat gun
but neither will get the oil fog out
there is a special tool that VDO makes/made to open these things up - but some have done w/o it

Nope, I had mine refurbed at NoHo and they did that after. Spent a lot more than 1200.
Not worried, part of the quirkiness. Only happens very sporadically.

I have found that the issue is cold air (particularly from the cavity between the door and front fender well) finding its way to the left most gauge while condenses the air in the gauge. My solution was to wrap neoprene (soft pop can cooler stuff) around the back of the gauge. A bit of care cutting and forming with tape and you end up with a nice reusable "sock".

yes and if you have a bad frunk seal or forget to click down completely it will fog up in seconds on a cool night run, this is because the back of the dash is in the frunk and is lacking a firewall in the normal sense of the word.
