Default orange wire with white line, what is it for

1980 911 SC , pulled the carpet and wood under the carpet to access the clutch cable. I found a wire andbehind the accelerator I found the wire in the picture just laying free, any ideas what it may go to? I am not an electrical type and cannot find anything it should be plugged into. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Looks brown - if so, then a gnd wire & white stripe usually means gnd'd only sometimes

May be for a cruise control kill switch that went uninstalled into a non-cruise car. Wiring harnesses are filled with all kinds of cool wires that never get used. The 3,2 harness has a wire that when correctly connected/disconnected adds 10HP. SRSLY

When I inherited my grandmother's Honda it had no radio. Pulled the DIN plate and all the wires for a four speaker system were right there in a great little harness....plug/play upgrade.

thank you AG. I was thinking the same thing, although I do have cruise control. Didn't all these cars come with cruise control?

maybe it goes up into the radio area?

but you'll have to get out the service manual and work thru all the brown/whites, or orange/whites

Sports cars and cruise control do not belong in the same conversation

That was one of the first things I deleted. That, and the stupid gallon size water bottle

yes this is a 1980 SC targa. My brake lights work fine. I don't know what it is for. I don't see anything it should plug into. If anyone recently removed their carpet and wood support the wire is near the acceleator linkage.

Curious: did you delete the washer reservoir system completely, or did you augment with the intensive washer bottle or something similar?
